Faldos last Open

Cant agree with that, its the best course on the rota (IMO), yes the HCEG have their own style and way of doing things but its THEIR club, the R&A ask them to give the course over to them to host the event. The gents only membership rule is a non issue as far as I am concerned, great for the reporters to try and get a story, oh, and alec salmon or whatever his name is to get himself on the tv to say how terrible it is.

Its not the bit about them not allowing lady members that's my 'concern'... Though there are plenty of others that this is the primary 'concern'... To me the membership simply doesn't want the event on their turf... Which is absolutely fine it is their club... So lets take the event to a venue that will welcome it... Sure there are plenty waiting in the wings...

I just find it funny because the HCEG don't NEED the open so they don't pander to the lentil eaters by even discussing the issue, a number of the members DO think its an inconvenience to have to give up their course for the duration. But like I said the R&A approach them....

So should Tom be out there as well? Lehman, Duval, Hamilton, Daly I suppose these out of form former players who were past champions shouldnt be there either  never heard so much rubbish.Ive read Faldos biog and he comes over as a very selfish guy but you cant deny he's golfing credentials.
All those players are playing Tour events on a regular basis - form is irrelevent. Watson plays regularly as does Lebman on the Champions, Daly plays all over the place, Hamilton plays on the European Tour, Curtis on the PGA, as does Duval.
Faldo has played on Tour for 3 years.
What's "rubbish" about that statement...?

Love him or loath him Faldo has earnt his place in the field.Just further to this should Jack not have played his last Open as he did at St Andrews a few years back? After all he wasn't competitive at all.who could forget those ironic images of him standing on the Swilken bridge. These guys are golfing legends let them bow out in style.........

My guess would be that most people thought Faldo already had....
If he'd been playing these last few years - like Jack had- No problemo.......

I thought he "retired" years ago when he stopped playing..........

The reason they don't want it is the members get punted from it for around 3 weeks.

I watched home for a few holes today. Was a real treat to see a legend of the game out there. I would never have been able to see him play otherwise. If he wants another run at muirfield to say goodbye why not?? He's earned the right to play so why shouldn't he.

LOL Faldo a legend, aye right I will crack the jokes.......

Never use his name in the same sentence as Jack Nicklaus.......

Each to their own, but he is a prize clown as far as I am concerned.

You are obviously entitled to your opinion although I can't work out how he would be classified a clown.
Only 11 golfers have won more majors, only 7 have won more post WW2; There are a lot of pretty illustrious names below him on the table.
