Fake Clubs?

Hi All

Being dragged off to a car boot later by the Mrs, but I'm not feeling too bad as I've heard this particular one is usually rammed with golf stuff for sale

So I thought I might dig around and maybe pick up a couple of wedges, maybe a new 3 wood too.

Anyway, when people have talked about second hand clubs on here, you often get someone piping up about watching out for fakes, especially on eBay etc.

So, how much of a problem are fake clubs? Are they everywhere (like the aforementioned car boots) or do they seem to just be confined to the bay?

If they are a problem across the board, anyone got any tips on how a non expert joe bloggs (me!) can spot them??

If they are old, well used clubs then you have to look at the state of the club face and grooves and the state of the shaft. Some older drivers have a tendency to damage the face as the material is thin and can bulge or crack.

I turned up at a place to play golf once, everything seemed OK to begin, turned out it was a fake club!













Was just a shed in front of a well painted mural, should have asked for my money back really.

Taylormade seem to be the choice of knock off ive seen lately! Especially the RBZ range.. puts me completely off buying anything from ebay!
