Hi guys. Just purchased a second hand set of 714 ap2 for a decent price on eBay. Seller was great and has feedback. However no serial number on 6 iron or any iron. Is there anyway to tell if they are fakes or not I just want to be sure. Do they always have a serial? Thanks!

How would they check them out without a serial. Sorry to seem silly just want me be double sure. They look OK just usual bits of paint rubbing off on rear of head. Just read online that 6i has serial

Off the shelf 712 and 714 should have a hologrammed sticker on the 6i shaft, I believe Titleist UK stopped stamping 6i's etc with the 710 model.

I just bought a single club too..what was the name of the seller? I have a set of real AP2s at home, will compare it when it arrives.

Can you post a picture?

Some fakes of older AP2 models were easy to spot. Maybe it's not conclusive but we might have a good idea if they're particularly bad fakes.

A lad in our group got some taylormade r11 irons I think off eBay new out at the time, And on of the inserts dropped out of the back of the club.
All turned out to be fake, all looked sound, and he hit them ok.
price to good to be true.....

I believe there is only the hologram sticker on the 6 iron of the 714's and no serial numbers unless they are a custom order then all ferrules will be stamped.

Sorry to hear you might have been done on Ebay. Problem with some of these fakes is you just can't tell. But get them checked out and if they are fake then Ebay will refund your money if you do it within 45 days.

i got a Scotty for, not a cheap price, but a good one. Couldn't get on with it and when I re-listed it back on EBay Titleist contacted me to tell me that it was fake. If you contact Titleist they will help you determine if they are real or not.
