As been said before, if I was told to use a mat, would either pack the clubs away or try another course.

I use the rocket launcher, prefer it the old style ones as it feels closer to the ground

Agreed, what course do you play.Parkland golf in Glasgow during winter? That means mats, but it also means a course in great nic throughout the rest of the year

we will have mats appearing in a big box by the first tee in the next few weeks i expect, despite the weather still being pretty good up here.
sort of green carpet on a black backing. We get them free and you just stick it back in the box when you have used it. Or you can drop to the side of the fairway. if Im inside 150 in the middle of the fairway i use the mat outside that drop to the side.
Ive never had to use a fairway mat. I take it you must move to the side of the fairway if you are on a slope and you cannot get your ball to rest on a mat.
it would have to be a severe slope to not be able to get the ball to sit on a mat
