Facebook

I choose not to use Facebook. Not because I have anything against it or it is dangerous or is just for "girls"; I don't use it because I reckon any time spent using it is time I could be golfing, out having fun or posting more drivel like this on the forum.

Asking a golf forum a question like should I go on Facebook is a bit silly don't you think? Aren't you able to make such a minor decision in life on your own? :D

Facebook - it doesn't cost anything. It is part of the zeitgeist.

You can register and have a look at it and if you don't like it, you can deactivate your account. If you do, you can stay on it and post face shooting status updates to your heart's content. ;)

People of this 'ere esteemed forum, I have a conundrum to end all conundrums..

Should I join Facebook??

I'm quite up for joining but there's something stopping me. I don't know what it is or why but something's stopping me. :D

Convince me to sign up.. :D

Oh, one thing to note, I don't have a smart/android/iPhone - would that make a difference??

AW, its handy for catching up with old friends that have moved away or you have lost contact with but be warned, with old friends come old girlie friends, and it can cause issues...... so im told. :o :o

On a serious not if you do sign up, ensure your privacy settings are spot on. people cannot view any of my information untill i have accepted them as a friend, all they can see is your name and your profile pic..... and thats nice for the people you dont really wish to be friends with anyway.

:D

I've been on it a few years, the novelty wore off pretty quickly though.

There's always some irritating bint that you're not sure why you're 'friends' with letting you know that her kid has just soiled itself, or that she's making a cup of tea and putting her feet up. Then you get the dorks that play the games 24/7 and insist on posting every little thing. I don't care if Mr & Mrs X have just swapped animals for their farm, or if Johnny C has got a golden Axe for his wizard.

It's tonk, don't waste your life on it.

For keeping in touch with the missus/family/friends, I have relied massively on Skype and e-mail - it works, plus, it's private.

The Out of Bounds section on here is pretty much facebook. Folk on here giving it all the "facebook is for girls" etc. then join in conversations on here about football, crazy drivers....and facebook. :D :D

If you've got an iPad or a smartphone then facebook is good to jump on and keep in touch with folk you don't see every day. Prob wouldn't use it much if, like the op, I didn't have it on my phone.

I use facebook just for the Poker. Its free, they give you $1000 a day. I am over $80M now.

Although, I have noticed a few team-cheaters lately, so hopefully Zinga (the poker provider) will sort that out soon.

I've got $18 in Paddy Power Poker.

Can you spare me enough to go to the WSOP.

I'll pay you back out of my winnings.

BTW my mum uses facebook to keep in touch with my sisters kids. I just phone her once a fortnight. It seems easier to me. :D

AW,
I joined it 2 years ago when i did my Achilles Tendon...
As well as this Forum...It was something to do to pass the hours at home....
I rarely use it now as has been covered in most of the lad's replies it has its drawbacks...
If i were in your shoes id take a long think before registering....Even though it says its got its private functions i dont think it has...Its just too open....

The only benefit i got from it was making contact with people that i hadnt seen since i was at school or worked with in previous jobs...Other than that i see no benefit...

Stick to GM mate....Its better, much better and everyone on here can relate to the same interest you have in the game...

Iv tried to close down my ACC heaps of times but it doesnt seem to let me for some reason ....

Just my 2 cents mate but if i were you id leave sleeping dogs lie. ;)

You can close it but then you have to stay off it for 2 weeks. If you log in, even accidentally, your cancellation request is cancelled.

I wouldnt bother with it personally. It's for kids & nosey people (mainly women!)

Joined once to see what the fuss was and closed my account a week later. It's Bollox.

Obviously this is just my opinion! :D
