People of this 'ere esteemed forum, I have a conundrum to end all conundrums..

Should I join Facebook??

I'm quite up for joining but there's something stopping me. I don't know what it is or why but something's stopping me. :D

Convince me to sign up.. :D

Oh, one thing to note, I don't have a smart/android/iPhone - would that make a difference??

It depends on a number of factors

1 your age ......13-15 is ideal
2 Your Gender....Its a bit girly
3 How many mates you have and whether they would use it to keep in touch with you. (Depends how many have been "shot in the face") :D :D :D
4 Depending on your privacy settings, we could see all your photos and messages etc

Its your call

I think you've hit the nail on the head there!!

I can see the benefits but it's just, well, for girls - plus, I cringe when I hear people say "are you on Facebook?". Currently I feel good saying no but lately I've been getting this, sort of, calling.. :(

Additionally, I've got a good mate (who I've not shot in the face - yet..) who said that it's a very unsafe website and even though you think you've ticked all the correct security settings, a hacker of a fairly lowly level can access all your details.

You lot aren't doing very well to convince me..

It only contains data you supply it. To say it's unsafe is a lot of shite other wise all you would hear on the news is peoples accounts being hacked and data stolen.

Join it and try it.

I'm "on" facebook, unlike the kids who say they've "got" facebook.

I simply can't see the point. It's boring unless you are living in the middle of nowhere and want to stay in touch with people you don't see regularly.

I can't think of any good reason other than that.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13358293

this is on the BBC news today, Sony got hit last week by hackers, Facebook has security loopholes, im afraid you just cant trust that any personal information that is stored on a computer is 100% safe.

so be careful what info you put on these sites as it may come back to haunt you later

Sign up for Arsebook, put up you're off to Barbados on holiday and the fellas in the masks and stripy tops will be round and have your LCD HD TV pride and joy off the wall and away. That is unless your kids have already given all and sundry the heads up.

I use Facebook regularly. Its great for keeping in touch with people I don't get to see very often.

Yes it has it's flaws but its great for staying social with people I don't get to see as much as I would like.

ditto ,use it keep in touch with family in america and my brother who works all over the world

I'm on facebook as pretty much every 16 year old is. The banter flows on facebook, but it does help with 500 odd friends so something funny is allways happening.

i am on facebook 24/7 just to keep in contact with family and old friends but i mainly play the games on thier like City ville sad i know but it gets me tru the day like this site does

It's not for me either.

Can see it being useful with families keeping in touch abroad.

But, what's wrong with exchanging e-mails, or even using skype?

Golfmmad.

Never used it & dont intend to , any news or pics i want to share with friends & family il send them direct to personal email address// who else would be sad enough to wana know what im geting up to,i aint that interesting that the world wide web would need to know.. think alota twitter users are daft aswell , can understand people wanting to know what celebs get up to but other joe soaps that put rubbish about themselves on it i just wonder WHY?? but HEY what ever floats your boat ..

I am on it quite alot, has allowed me to get back in touch with old mates and such like and just to keep track of what people I do not see very often are up to

It can be great for bringing together old friends but I have also seen it break up marriages as wife got in touch with old flames and jealousy reared its ugly head.

I've been on it for a while. Not an addict but it's useful to keep in touch with folk a long way from home. It's social, so if you aren't sociable it's not for you but I think it's great. Like a window into your "friends" world. A bit of banter here and there. Maybe I'm just nosey but it's nice to know what's going on. As for security, you need to set things just as you want them or you get the photo's from Joe Bloggs's stag night visible to all, or worse still the Mrs :D

Because I live in the west midlands but from the North East it's great to keep in touch with all my friends and family from 'home'.
Plus I was in the RAF and its an easy way to keep in touch when everyone is posted around all parts of the country.

Maybe it's an age thing but at 28 I find it a good place to see what all friends and family are up to.
