My new handicap is............ 21!!!

Astonished but will give it my best shot. After last nights episode its something to cheer me up even more

glass is definitely half full today.

Now to have a few days rest then enjoy plenty of golf off the new h/c. Doc informed me golf is a great hobby for exercise and stress relief (obviously hasnt seen my swing) so the gf has been told! lol

Well done chap, great cut, this is your new level and you should believe in your ability to play to it and better, golf on.

Congrats, but based on what you have said recently and the severity of the cut in light of winning one individual and one team comp sounds over the top and meant to ensure you won't be winning again anytime soon - go prove them wrong!!!

yes I agree fundy, does reek slightly of noses being put out of joint. I have had 7 top tens including a win and a runner up and was 6th in sundays medal.

I must apologise to Gary (region3) as its less shots in the volvo lol :)

sounds like you have defo upset the handicap sec! not to mention region3! :)
great set of results though well played and congrats on the massive cut! only 25% down inside a month wow.

Great - and will be even better when you play to it and really put some noses out of joint!! Make sure that half full glass isn't the strong stuff though!

It was obviously the shock of the handicap cut that sent you over the edge last night :)

Well done fella, now have a few days rest, get out there and start playing to it

Glad it was just a "flypast"

Well done Gibbo - I can't understand why you would be shocked when you've been more consistent this year than Luke Donald was last year.

The key issue for me is in part related to the shock and what position you are in mentally. Do you now feel like a 25 handicapper (which I think could spell trouble) or do you feel like you could easily be a 16 handicapper ?

I ask because many years ago I was playing terribly but was given a 4-shot general play cut for having the cheek to drive a par 4 with a committee man putting out (they could do that in those days). It was the spur I needed and I quickly lost another 4 or 5 shots afterwards (I couldn't play to 22 but all of a sudden I could play better than 18). I can only put it down to thinking like an 18 rather than 22 handicapper. I hope you can do the same.

I believe I have rested on 28 too long, I find myself playing holes knowing I have 2 shots and being over conservative.

Good example was Sunday, medal round and now only had 1 shot on 9 & 10 which I usually struggle on getting 2 shots, should have parred both but managed single bogey. same on a few others, so I know I can shoot sub 90's which would be under h/c (I have had an 85, a few 87's and about 3 89's in social play)

7 shots in a few weeks will probably be a few 0.1's but I intend to get to 18 by the end of the summer and this has given me the motivation to work on my game more.

if I had up my best scores in comps per hole overall my best round on paper would be a 5 over. So the ability is there just not the consistency over 18.

Time will tell :)
