Even My Pro Is Trying To Tempt Me

Weren't you saying when you get this money that it would be used to pay off credit cards that you lived on as the misses wasn't working? How can spunking money on golf gear be a good thing if that's the case?

Yep and the cheque I'm getting is bigger than the credit card bill so a nice surplus to spend on whatever

Just a suggestion Homer.....

Instead of buying yet another pair of shoes, (which you don't really need because you already have about a dozen pairs and you can only wear one pair at once).
Why don't you send me a cheque for £65.00 which will pay for your day at Cooden in August???
That way you won't have to pull out of a brilliant forum meet again if you are skint nearer the time!
Not being funny, but it would be lovely to have you down for the day.

Think you'll find I'm down on the list for next year. Can't book any days off for 2012 in work yet so can never say 100% I'll get the day off but the cash won't be and issue. We still owe the balance on Woburn so I would worry about getting that cheque out of my sticky mitts first :p:biggrin::D

I did try the Razr and didn't get on wit them. Funnily enough the clubs that have come closest to the R11 were the CG 16's I hit at the FoA demo day. http://clevelandgolf.com/UK_cg16-tour-black-pearl-irons__cg16_tour_bp_itons__viewProd_irons.html

However I took an R11 4 iron out at AG today on the premise that if I couldn't hit the longer irons with their supposed forgiveness then what was the point in changing. The verdict - silly easy to hit with a lovely high flight and very forgiving. It just re-emphasised how good the R11's are. I have to say, it looks a done deal. Giving myself a week to mull it over

Our pro has 3 sets of reg shafted TM CB 4-PW going for £399 if anyone is interested?

Seems madness to me. They aren't that good looking, and regardless of how well they go, I'd rather have the money in the bank.
With the ever present threat of redundancy in the public sector, a wife in and out of employment, a history of living off credit, I would go for the security of having some cash in the bank against a rainy day.

Just me though, being boring, and practical.

I have to say, no matter how good, bad or indifferent they are, the Red "nut" in the cavity makes them look worth about 20p!

The "nut" in the other TM clubs is a discrete metallic grey kinda colour and doesn't stick out like a Baboon's rear.
I know the R11 woods have the red sole plate but it really doesn't look good on the iron.

Murph, thanks for the concern but just to reassure you as I'm sure its weighing heavy on your mind

The performance outweighs any looks issue and having used TM before these don't seem excessively ugly
Is it just the public sector in danger of redundancy? At the moment we can't get nurses in quick enough (winter bed pressure) and so my job is actually going quite well at the moment
Mrs Homer has got a job back in HR which was her first love and she is beginning to blossom and make some good impressions in her new company.
Mr TSB was extremely generous with his PPI payment and so the debt crisis has been cleared completely, there is enough for a set of R11's and enough to save for a rainy day (although HID is talking about using the surplus left over for a new bathroom)

In conclusion, after a difficult 18 months there is sunshine and a small crock of gold at the end of my rainbow. We've had our rough patch and the way I see it I (we) deserve some retail therapy (she's not getting her bathroom but she can have those designer handbags she has wanted).

As for the R11 irons being the answer to my inherent swing problems, even I'm not that stupid to believe there is or will ever will be out there that can pull together so many moving parts into a coherent attempt at a swing. However having hit them foibles et al they do deliver forgiveness, good flight and are arguably perhaps better suited to where my game actually is than the sticks I'm using at the moment

Just a point of view, it's a forum, you posted, not me.

There have been enough posts along the 'poor me, no money, can't attend a meet' trend over the years, so kind of figured that may be some savings might be a cunning plan. Clearly not. Fine.

Ever thought of using the cash to pay next years subs?

If not, can you pay mine?

Brave talk Homer, hope it doesn't come back to bite your bottom (I hate not being able to swear)

As Mick Hucknall once said money was too tight to mention (although clearly I did) and meets were too expensive to justify. The subs are covered in the surplus too although I'd also been saving separately as well so it makes the pot of gold that much bigger. Sorry to disappoint but I've got other things (not golf rlated - SHOCK HORROR) lined up so can't help you out
