European Football 2017/8

Very naive performance from Aberdeen last night but the better team won. Celtic carrying the Scottish flag once again.

Liverpool play Hoffenheim in CL qualifier.
Thank god they've got no German connections

Yeah be a decent tie that, they're a good side though they lost a couple of their maim players this summer.

Gutted though I won't get a Steaua half n half :(

Celtic got Astana, nervy tie last year but I think Celtic will go through.

Still shocking that the champions of Scotland have to play 3 double header ties before getting to the CL.

To be fair, the scottish league is a bit of a joke. Celtic have made it out of the group stage 4 times in the last 20 years.

You miss the point, Champions league, you know.......the European comp for champions
I agree mate, League Champions from each country should be given automatic group stage, then the co-efficient should be used for the rest.

Celtic have recently received very little back up from other Scottish teams in Europe in recent years as well as struggling themselves at times.

Yeah, but it isn't for Champions any more......the most inaptly named tournament in sport..

Ultimately it is for champions and the champions of every member nation get into it or at least get to qualify. Is it right the champions of Scotland have to play 2 qualifiers more than England's 4th placed team, not to mention the third or 2nd place teams? It's a cash cow designed for countries with the largest TV audience.

Former winners of the Champions Cup shouldn't have to pre-qualify if they earn the spot as their countries champion ;)

Just another example of football selling its soul.

Hadjuk Split for the Ev, I hope Collina comes out of retirement for that tie :smirk:

I was at the German Supercup Final on Saturday between Dortmund and Bayern - tremendous day out, good beer, great atmosphere and the football was excellent as well. What a stadium Dortmund have mind
