Kicks off tonight in Scotland with St Johnstone and Rangers.

I think this is the 5th successive season in Europe for St Johnstone.
An amazing effort for a team with such a small fan base.

Finishing in top 3-5 in the league.
Winning the Scottish cup in 2016

Not a good night for them going down 0-1.
Rangers in trouble at 1-0, both games at home.

Very poor performance tonight from Saints, lost 2-1 and lucky that's all it was
Ref had a shocker but not the cause of the loss, opposition too quick and far sharper than our lot and can't see us progressing.

The Lithuanian team are 14 games into their season, always tough for British teams in the early qualifiers at the start of the year.
As Celtic found out last year.;)

Rangers knocked out by the 4th best team in Luxembourg. Some may mock, but I'd say a 2-1 defeat is a decent effort bearing in mind it was their first ever European tie.

There's plenty of European football every week during the football season, up and down the country. It would be nice to see some English footie again.

I put this on the main footie thread and perhaps more relevant here. Very interested to hear what the Scots think and especially what the press and media have said

Rangers out of Europe to a bunch of Luxembourg minnows that had never won a European game in six attempts and finished 4th in their league. Does that exemplify just what state Scottish footie is in? Should this have been a game Rangers won at a canter or was it too soon in the season for all their new players and existing squad to play together and cohesively. As a neutral it looks like a shocker but I'm interested in what those that watch Scottish footie think. How bad is this for Rangers finances and their other potential transfer targets

Total disaster for Rangers financially and Scottish football in general, yes Rangers should have won this game with their reserve team, St Johnstone look like going out which leaves just Aberdeen and Celtic, I think the latter can progress to the CL group stage but not too sure of Aberdeen's chances. We need the 'smaller' clubs to do a bit better in order to push up the UEFA co-efficient then the clubs wouldn't be having to enter at such an early stage and as such would probably be more match ready.

I honestly think that this is one of those freak results that happens every so often, but Scottish football is in a bad way, mainly down to finances available, Celtic would need to win the league 70 years in a row (70 !!!) to earn the same money as the team finishing bottom of the EPL.

Early season stuff, strange results......Celtic lost to a team from Gibraltar last year and look what happened to their season.

Mind you I can still can afford a wee smile after listening to some of the guff the Rangers owner came out with last week

Oh dear, I see they lost the Big Tax appeal as well.
Disappointing few days for boys in blue.

I know the court case will not affect the new club but I would imagine there will be wide scale panic in boardrooms of clubs who have used the same tax dodge.

Celtic pushing for them to be stripped of the titles they won illegally. Quite right too.

It reflects on the current manager of Rangers and his appalling transfer market dealings, and the shambles that keeps on giving at Ibrox, that's all. You're not seriously suggesting Scottish football is worse than Luxembourg now are you?
