Suppose it is a nice bit of practice in that format for the players and Clarke. But not sure if it tells you much about how any player will do in the Ryder Cup.

I'm sure some will jump on the result to prove that some of the old timers are worth a captains pick in the Ryder Cup. Not sure myself unless their form improves dramatically. Then again you can only beat who you are up against.

The most interesting singles results were Willett's victory over Hun An, Sullivan's victory over Jaidee and the losses of Cheese-Burger and Lowry to Kim and Lahiri.

Good solid victories for Willett and Sullivan against the ET rookie of the year and one of the ET's established performers bode well if either / both make the RC.

On the other hand Cheese-Burger's defeat was disappointing and Lowry losing to the best player on the Asian team was likewise.

I know its all a much of a muchness and on the day but singles are where everything is laid bare and the mettle of players is really discovered.

Clarke would have found the whole comp useful

The pairings and how people feed of each other
How the rookies faced in a singles and going out in specific order
How Westwood and Poulter react and mentor the young guys
How the guys react in momentum changing moments

It's a shame it wasn't a tougher contest and hosted in Europe I think it would draw bigger crowds

He can still use one as long as it's not anchored, we've got a guy who still uses his to very good effect, he's not anchored in any way and it's almost pendulum like.

right, the bits i saw he had his back to the camera, so couldn't see if it was or not, does seem strange i would imagine they are a bit unwieldy not achored

from what i saw of it this year it was poor viewing ,but you have to hand it to the euro lads ,they played well.
i think the competition as a whole is in dire need of something to get the locals interested in watching it. until then its a very second rate competition .maybe next year.
