Look forwards not backwards. And plough your own furrow. I could sit here claiming Sigur Ros are one of the greatest bands ever, which I think they are, but other opinions are available and if you are not into post rock and think music stopped in about 1976 then you may not like them. Spotify have numerous playlists and features where 'if you like this, try this', which I use a lot to hear new things. And I am sure Apple has the same. Some of it is rubbish, but you will find some real gems in there away from the usual diet of the same old same old that often gets mentioned in these threads.

Pretty much covered. I'd look for some live stuff rather than the bog standard album tracks

Mainstream;

Dire Straits (Alchemy)
Eagles (Hell Freezes Over)
Lynyrd Skynyrd (One More from The Road)
Bob Seger (The Distance, Against The Wind, Stranger In Town)
Bruce Springsteen (Born To Run, Darkness On The Edge Of Town, The River, Live 1975-85)
Bryan Adams
Fleetwood Mac (Rumours)
Elton John (Goodbye Yellow Brick Road)
Queen
Rod Stewart
Status Quo
Rolling Stones
Small Faces
Thin Lizzy (Live & Dangerous)

Less well known (but a similar vein)

Joanne Shaw Taylor (Wild, The Dirty Truth)
Kenny Wayne Shepherd (How I Go, Live On, Trouble Is, Going' Home)
Gary Moore (The Best of the Blues, Ballads & Blues)

The albums in brackets would be my choice, if they're italicised they're live, if there's no suggestion then head for a greatest hits. Some of it is old (alright, most of it :) ) but so am I and it stands the test of time (imho :D )

Alternatively head on over to hear & see what the great and the good (and a few reprobates :rofl:) would recommend to the forum;

Have fun. :thup:

Simple Minds - live in the city of light - one of the best live albums ever, and really improved a few of the single versions of the album tracks.

Agreed it's a good live album indeed. The version of "book of brilliant things" on there is first class. Shame it's missing Hunter the Hunted but decent nonetheless. You're obviously a Cult fan too sir but can't believe you haven't even got Dreamtime in you preferred albums list. It's a masterpiece !!!

It is, totally different to the album track - slow, slow, builds to a crescendo, then slow finish - love songs like that.

The Love song/sun city/dance to the music "mash-up" is fantastic and ends the album on a high. It was on side 4, when I originally had it on vinyl.:D

My first Cult album was love, then sonic temple, electric then Ceremony.....so dreamtime sounded too different, compared to them.

Not liked anything they have done since.

he beauty of Apple music and for that matter iTunes, (I've not used Spotify, deezer or any other music app), is that you can listen to a band, then if you click on the album, to see what other albums they have, if you scroll down, you see the section that says, people who listened to this also listened to.

Prior to Apple Music, I could quite easily and have done, spent a fortune on new albums.

But now I have Apple music, since November last year I've downloaded over 200 albums, mainly rock, blues, metal, but some pop, jazz and funk as well. A load of new bands ad have caught up on albums from bands from the 80's onwards.

IF you like a bit of southern rock, I highly recommend a band called "Outlaws and Moonshine", also "38 Special" and if you like female vocalists in the rock genre have a look for Martine Edoff and Jessica Wolff

I never download.

I just copy from my cd collection to the memory card on the phone.

Not that I listen to music much on the phone in the first place. Whenever I go away I usually take my Logitech Touch Player with me.
