A+ for me

Wow....top effort Phil!! :D

Difficult to assess really. In pure results terms it would be an E as I've gone up from 11.5 to 12.2 with no reductions and only two rounds in the buffer zone. One of those was in the Men's Open at Woburn so that was a pretty good result for me. However playing with my good lady I have finally got my name on one of the honours boards as we won a mixed foursomes knockout comp and picked off some very strong partnerships in the process.

So on reflection I'll call it a C-

B

Managed to knock 6.5 shots off my handicap, promoted to division one.

Only real disappointment was long patch in the summer where I played average golf meaning I dropped down on clubs order of merit.

Other than that all goals achieved got below 15 and played a double bogey free round in a comp.

I'd say c+, played scrappily all year. Handicap is exactly where it was after 20 or so qualifiers but I'd like a little more. I feel like my ball striking is good, but I've been poor off the tee & around the greens :o

Played some top courses and played with some top fellas

Came down 2 shots but could have been more, I missed a lot of comps in the summer due to work commitments which really hurt my progress, the other comps I played really well in were team format.
Really enjoyed it though as it was my first proper full year playing.

A for me

Managed to stay fit and healthy for the vast majority of the year which was my main goal :)

Managed to play plenty of decent courses with a wide variety of people :)

Managed to win 2 medals and one other comp plus the mixed knockout this summer :)

Hcap has come down a little but not overly important

B

Dropped from 20.6 to 13.2 winning the monthly stableford, couple of sweeps and a 3 club challenge along the way.

Played St Andrews New and Hillside and was part of a great competition. Played OK at the New, but horribly at Southport. Need to play more nice courses next year as I really struggle when I play courses for the first time.

After a lot of cuts early on in the year, I put my back out and thought my season was over. I recovered really well, but my swing is still not back to early season form.

Don't care about my handicap now; my aim was to get to 18 and I've surprised myself at how low I've gone. Next year is about improving my ball striking and course management, playing a lot more courses and spending my time between the course and the short game area.

c+ for me

Ball striking has improved and i now know how to hit some lovely looking shots. However i am still inconsistent and have not played very well in the Medals.

Still i have hit a personal best of 83 (off 20) and had a couple of 84's in bounce games. Better still that i still feel that i left a lot of shots out there and only silly little mistakes (4 putting, duffed chips etc) also) stopped me shooting sub 80 Just need to do this in a Q comp.

I also had a PB of not losing a single ball for 4 consecutive rounds. :D

It was enough to lure me into a false sense of security and gave me the nerve to buy some Pro V1's............... Only to lose about 4 of them on my 5th round

ha ha

Next year is all about trying to hone in the swing i have, so that i do not slip into bad habits next year.

I honestly feel i have the game to get to 15-16 next year at least and will be disappointed if i dont get some joy in that regards. I'm starting to get a little embarrassed that i am still of 20, especially when i have potential to be a massive bandit (in appearance) on my day.

C

In handicapping terms went from 5.6 to 5.6 via 6.3 and 5.3. That comes after last year when I went from 7.5 to 5.6, was always going to be tough following that up. My goal at the start of the season was to get down to 5 at some point and I achieved that, so have to be happy there and I'm really happy with the way that I finished the season as it was looking more likely that I would sneak up to 7 rather than be anywhere near getting back to 5.

Same platform as last season to start off on and having maintained 5.6 for this year, the targets for next are to get the exact down below 5 at some point and spend most of the season in Cat 1 rather than visiting it for a week or two.

Hard to read past the three holes in one. Whilst there can be an element of luck in them and they may not even be your favourite highlights of the year, that is one hell of a haul!

A solid E or F for me. Started full of confidence, which was zapped quickly, and I hated the game from April until September, so hardly played. The game is starting to come back but still a long way from where I want to be, despite my handicap now being the lowest it has ever been.

D

Got down to my all time low of 11.8 and then went steadily up thereafter. 2015 should be better though , determined to get better at course management and with Alwoodley on the horizon I'm looking forward to playing a "must play" and meeting some of you guys.

I'd have thought going from 20.6 to 13.2 would merit an A all on it's own, well done! :)

Can't help noticing that your handicap record in your signature refers to "Rule 23", how did a rule on loose impediments affect your handicap?

Handicap from 10.1 to 6.1 (lowest of 5.9). Some decent wins although not on a board yet! Feels a bit weird though as not sure where to go from here so haven't replied in any of the "what do you want to do next year" threads. I really just want to continue to improve but really don't have any set goal in mind and not fussed about Cat 1!

A

Handicap dropped from 17.4 down to 14.1 and managing to play to it (or at least around it) rather than getting down to low (low for me anyway) and then 0.1'ing my way back up.

Won Player of the Year, Chloe Cup (big medal), 2 stableford comps, 2 monthly medals plus finished 2nd (handicap) in the Club Champs (7th overall). Should have won President's Day (had 40 points on the 17th tee, finished with 41 with the winner getting 42 points) but finished runner up.

Putting improved drastically (best £50.00 on a couple of lessons I've spent), if I can just get more consistency off the tee there is definitely still room to come down so looking forward to getting some time in over the winter.

A-

On the face of it, lots of good stuff and generally improved my golf!

* Played a load of new courses, including some good forum meets
* Handicap down from 7 to 4
* Won club championship
* Won a few other things :)
* Broke 70 for the first time
* Broke par for the first time
* Qualified strongly for county championship
* 2nd scratch in two county meets
* Won 5/6 matches for the scratch team
* Posted a respectable score at the East of Scotland champs (without threatening the leaderboard!)
* Got a new Driver courtesy of Mizuno and GM!

But some disappointments too..

* Got to 4 handicap by early May but a mid-season loss of form saw me creep back almost to 6 before coming back down. I basically struggled with my game from late June to September :(
* Got absolutely hammered in the county championship matchplay - just didn't turn up, could barely muster a par that day.
* Struggled at the Scottish Ladies - would really love to put a couple of decent round together in that but found it tough going.

E, but after my two lessons recently it should be an A next year.

Played with a lot of decent forumers over the year, and Liverpoolphil. Played the best non links course in the UK, Sunningdale New.
