Elon Musk

Musk at AI summit sees the existential threat to humanity.
But not his form of AI, which he owns.
Why should I bother about AI engineering Armageddon?
It's already started, hasn't it?
You ain't going to stop it because it will become smarter than us.

Musk quote: (Because of AI) there will come a point where no job is needed".
Does that include his own job?
We've had this before and it led to more jobs created, not less.
Like fewer people working in factories, and more in leisure.
If Musk is correct, we can all retire to the golf course when leaving school.

On the back of his product launches for his robotaxi and robovan last week - with actual 'robots' walking around engaging with the attendees - it was time for some groundbreaking space eploration developments yesterday...

Loads of clips of this on the internet. Musk is the Isambard Kindom Brunel of our time.

Saw this live on tv.......absolutely amazing

this is a staggering achievement... You may or may not like the guy or his recent political leanings. As an investor, i was not impressed by the Robo event.
But by God the chopstick catch was an unbelievable engineering achievement. Cant wait to see more.

The only fly in this is that it will give Elon an even bigger head..

Does anyone actually believe that robotaxi will be ready in 2026? Tesla have been promising full self drive cars for years and years now and are still nowhere near it while Waymo already has cars doing it in a few big cities. Even if they did magically get approval for it and it actually worked who in their right mind is going to pay $30K to let strangers ride around in their car while they are at work?

The man is full of crap, he will happily lie as long as it keeps the Tesla stock high. Isambard Kindom Brunel? More like P.T. Barnum.

IF the robo taxi becomes real, then it will be a fleet model rather than a personal choice. So you can see Uber/Avis buying tons of them and then renting it out.

Probably but I just can't see it being ready anytime soon. Just how many times have Tesla said self drive will be ready next year? Must be going on 8 years now and it's still nowhere near ready.

The Tesla shares took a hit last week as well, maybe the market think this isn't happening anytime soon either. Musk has enough of a cult following though that Tesla share price is more like a meme stock, it bounces around without much logic to it.

Ok, add some substance to your argument that he’s full of crap - based on what we are witnessing, it’s a bold statement.

From what I read the shares dipped as investors and markets are still skeptical about the feasibility of self driving or other autonomous vehicles and that the powers that be will relax some of the regulations that currently block widespread usage.

There is an interesting theory (conspiracy if you will) that the Muskrat is candle-lighting his Royal Orangeness as much as he is to curry enough favour that can see a push to remove or reduce some of these regulations and allow Tesla in to that market.

Now that Tesla is facing real competition from other EV makers, it's the next best profitable route that he has to try and push along.

For me, Tesla are in a funny position. They are priced like a tech company but they aren't making any breakthroughs on tech (that actually reach the consumers) and Musk is on Twitter constantly bad mouthing the people who buy most of his cars. The right wing people love their big gas guzzling pickups, not an electric car.

I doubt Musk will have been happy with Trump's speech the other week in Michigan when Trump was going on about how bad electric cars are. I think this was shortly after he had Elon on stage at one of his rallies too.

“Why aren’t these manufacturers making cars that are going to sell and go on long journeys? They want windmills all over the place. It is like they are told what to do and go against their industries.”
"The electric vehicles are going to put you out of business, the things you make in Michigan they don’t need anything of it.”

Of course Trump will lie to people to get what he wants. He can't endorse electric cars in Michigan but he will happily take the $40M or whatever it is that Musk is donating to him. I've no doubt that if Trump wins Musk will be able to "donate" him a large sum to remove whatever regulations he wants removed.

What like?

Him getting forced to buy Twitter after his couple of "I'm going to buy twitter" pump and dumps?

Or his pump and dump of both BitCoin and Dogecoin?

Or Tesla will have self drive cars? He's been saying it for 10 years now.

This is from 3.5 years ago...

What about Boring Company and his hyperloop?

What about putting someone on Mars?

What about his miniature submarine to save those kids in the Thailand caves and when a diver said that was impossible he called them a pedo?

I could go on but I've got my lunch to make.

Self drive is very close. Infact I believe it's fully working it's just legally banned on roads

He is South African, so don't worry 😄 .

Whatever he is, he is a heck of a successful businessman.

Very good at picking the right team aswell as most of the brilliant tech he didn't design but he is the head of Tesla

No questioning his cars are streets ahead of others in that sector

His home battery is on par with others in the field

I would never bet against him
