Ecco golf shoes

I am fed up of buying golf shoes that only last me a year and are made of thin leather that cracks and leaks. I have purchased a number of FJ's, Adidas, Callaway, Nike and the like over the years and have not been impressed. I play 3 times a week on average so they get some fair use over the year.

I am considering getting some Ecco golf shoes, they are a bit more expensive but look as if they are well made from good materials. Anyone have any experience of them?
 
I have worn Ecco shoes (Both golf and everyday shoes) and they are great. The golf shoes last forever. Mine are now at least six years old and I play twice a week. The spikes are changed about once a year and they get a polish every now and then They have never leaked even in the worst weather. Granted they are dearer than FJs, but better value for money.
 
Yes, just binned a pair that have been worn about 3 times... they're hard wearing coz they're made out of flexible iron and hurt like fluk. FJ Contours again. They might only last 18mths or so but they're like slippers.
 
I have never had any Dryjoys crack and I play 2 to 3 times a week.

I have some Ecco ordinary shoes and they are excellent so i was thinking of trying some golf shoes too but I have found it difficult to get the correct size.

When I have got some, i will let you all know what how they go.
 
I've had Ecco shoes, and can vouch for their quality and extreme comfort.

I'm sure golf shoes will be exactly the same, and yes, expensive but as the old saying goes,

"You get what you pay for".
 
I hot a pair of Tour Hydro max this year and though they took some wearing in, they are top shoes. Waterproof and very comfy. look like they will last unlike the FJ's i've had.
 
I've been wearing Ecco golf shoes for around 3 years now. They are very soft, and comfortable from the first time you wear them. Would highly recommend them.
 
Just my experience but Ecco were my first golf shoes and the sole cracked in half after about 53 weeks and had to be thrown away so vowed to never buy them again.

There was a fault with Ecco golf shoes a couple of years ago with the sole splitting. Ecco replaced them free of charge no matter how long you had them. Shame you didn't take them back.
 
I wear Ecco ordinary shoes and think they are great, so bought two pairs of Ecco golf shoes. They look great and are completely waterproof BUT after a round my toes ached for the rest of the day. I bought a pair of Callaway C-Tech Saddle and the problem disappeared. The Callaways gave the best toe joint support of all in the shop, I would recomment them.
 
I can't understand how so many people on here can have problems with shoes irrespective of brand. Is it a lack of care such as not drying them out properly, polishing them etc. I have several pairs of FJ that are over five years old and are still as waterproof as they were out of the box and I use them a lot, particularly as winter shoes.

Homer,

I guess if you have several pairs of golf shoes then the use is spread out between them. I have tended to use one pair, two at the outsides. My current pair were Nike, not top of the range but the leather is wafer thin and splitting after 9 months. My FJ AQ's split along the seam between the side and sole after around one year.

I always clean and dry my shoes, I coat them with aquanous Nickwax in the winter to keep supple and waterproof. I just find the construction and materials tend to be questionable.

Anyhow, I have ordered a pair of Ecco which are fairly expensive but seem to be of good quality and made in Denmark. I will let people know how I get on with them.

Well a box turned up today with a new gleaming pair of ECCO Tour Golf Shoes. They look great and the materials are first class, real quality soft leather lining and grain leather uppers. They feel comfortable straight from the box and I am looking forward to trying them out. Have to wait a bit as I have knackered my left knee at the moment and giving it a rest for a few weeks.
 
I picked up a pair of Ecco's at a nearby golf range on Tuesday. Originally priced at £149.50 down to £90 finally going for £50 and, for me, a perfect fit. How they feel and how long they last we will see but some result!

A couple of points Homer.....

1. You have 14 pairs of shoes!! No wonder you don't have any problems, they should last you the rest of your golfing life between them :)

2. You mentioned a few times that your wife takes meticulous care of your shoes, that obviously helps aswell. I struggle to get enough time to play golf with everything else going on. I always scrub them down after a round but that's about it.

I think, generally, they don't seem to be made aswell these days.

When I was a kid I got a pair of Cotswold shoes that were similar to FJ and a "proper" shoe style. As I played loads and had nowt else to do I polished them etc and they lasted me about 8 years (granted not playing too regularly for the last few).

Since taking it back up I've had issues with FJ and Adidas so going to try the Nike Lunar shoes now.
 
Ive had a couple of pairs of ECCO golf shoes, and really rate them.
Well made Quality shoes, very comfortable, and took NO wearing in.

Only shoes Ive ever had bother with, Adidas tour 360 leather on uppers, split and cracked
Footjoy dryjoys sole cracked
Adidas tour 360 3.0 .... crippled my feet, wore twice, gave away to a friend

Best pair shoes I have or have owned..........An all white pair of Adidas Adipure, pure class, so comfy, QUALITEEEEEE
