Easter Monday Golf

Had a game today with a mate from work. It was so cold that we nearly came in after 4 holes. Fortunately there was nobody in front of us so we kept going. Glad we did 'cause I made birdie on the par 3 5th, and then did something I had not done before, made 4 birdies in a row from the 13th to the 16th. Apart from a tap-in on the 13th they were all long putts too.

That's some going there Steve, well done mate. I birdied 10 and 11 yesterday but then restored the equlibrium of the universe with a 3 putt on the 12th lol

Wth my course on 'winters' I gave it a miss.....travelled 5 miles away to Ryton where full greens were on (probably the only course in close vicinity like that ) course in canny nick and the greens better than Hexhams last Friday, inconsistent game very tight track and I got punished few times with some bad drives ..hit a couple of birdies and 3 pars but an 8 and two 7's smashed me......3 over on my hcap...The new Scotty Cameron made its 2nd FULL appearance and only 3 putted TWICE.Pleased with that.God was it cold last 4 holes.

Played the medal at Dunbar on sat. All tees right back into the corners, got it round in 76 with a double up 18..gutted. Out of 90 guys I finished 4th and a wee HC cut. Played today in a stiff breez coming right off the sea.......and, 76 with another double...on 17this time.

Can't complain.

I went and played Ashford (Kent) GC today cracking course thought after scoring 16 points on the first 9 I would be having a fairly good round, well no that's where it ended I only managed 3 (yes three) points on the back 9 for some reason I couldn't string 2 shots together. I put balls in water, out of bounds and generally duffed my way round.

So now I need to forget that and get out again tomorrow and play like I know I can:D

Course was set up very long for the medal today. Finished net 71 and fifth place. CSS was 73 so should have had a nice cut but comp was declared a non qualifier as bunkers were declated GUR as some still have snow in

Took a flyer from work and teed off at 4. Painfully slow and cold and windy 14 holes with 5 x 3 putts and 3 x7s on the card. Our greens haven't wintered very well, rutted, full of irrigation holes, bumping all over place and no consistency in the speed. Tough few weeks ahead for the green keeping staff.

Great to get out in the early evening though

Was thinking about going out this afternoon but I've been out either playing golf or walking the dogs for the last 5 days and I'm getting a bit fed up with being cold so I stayed in.

I went out for a knock with a few lads and returned 36points. Collected the money in the bar, had a bite to eat and a few pints then went back out and did another 9 holes, 23 points. 42 gross which equates to 6 over, had a couple of lip outs too, my best game to date for 9 holes.

I had a pretty good day today too, was +8 today with an 8 at a par 5. I'm hoping to continue my form after a 76 yesterday with '5' 3 putts. 1st Medal is on Thursday. I'm thinking of getting my daughter a menbership but she's still only 7, might take her up on Wednesday for a go on the Par 3 course and speak to the Pro about junior coaching.

Good shooting Paul. Am trying to get the wean into it from a very ealry age. 18 months and I got her swiniging the plastic clubs and rooting for Tiger Woods. Thats ma girl :-)
