Eagles! (Rolling Thread)

I'm on a bit of run at the moment, had an eagle in 3 of my past 4 rounds.

No surprise really given that the longest club i have hit into any of the par 5s at my club recently is a 5iron.

should be making a lot more

That's my feeling too. Both the par 5s at my home club are borderline par 4s really. A decent drive and you're hitting no more than a mid iron in. I get loads of birdies on these holes but only the occasional eagle.

Should have had 2 in 2 days last weekend. Left an eagle putt 2 inches short one day, the following day I hit a 9 iron into our 18th which defied gravity and somehow went around the pin. Got to my ball which was 6 inches past the hole and noticed the flagstick was leaning over slightly, this made the hole smaller on the side my ball had gone.

Should have aimed at the other side of the hole :D

mostly would say the reason is more just down a question numbers in possible percentage chances/conversions of a 'norm' eagle on par 5 that being 'on in 2, putt' (as opposed to holed out 2nd's on par 4 or hio's on 3's)

a 'norm model' course make up tend to lean to there being 4 par 5's, 4 3's, 10 4's

so significantly less to go at in 'true' par 5 eagles - but 14 possible chances of birds

plus the other significant stat would be what the norm range of 'distance to the pin' folks have with on in 2 outcomes

soon as you move to outside 15' and more, percentage of holing out drops off by a whole bunch

to push up the percentage chance of a 'true eagle' folks would have to be first off capable of really (as opposed to often times folks perceived & normally badly estimated driving distances!) pushing it out from the tee box so the 2nd's are going in from 5i,6i,7i's to get that nearer average 'distance to the pin'

Went eagle-birdie on our back to back par 5s tonight. My first eagle in about 4-5 years (have missed a lot of chances over that time and it is something that has been bothering me for a while) and i've never followed one up with a birdie before. Par 5 7th I bombed a drive and hit 3 iron from about 215 that ran up to about 10 yards short of the green and then chipped in. Par 5 8th I then hit another good drive and nailed a 3 iron from about 210 to about 20 feet - the putt was up to the back tier with a lot of break so not likely I would make it but I hit a good putt and put it to within a couple of feet and tapped in for birdie. My head was spinning a bit at the prospect of back to back eagles! Now to do it with a card in my hand on the weekend...

Eagled the 9th at Studley today :whoo:

Driver , hybrid to about 20ft and drained the putt

Pro Am today - was on our 17th in one , hybrid to 3 foot and knocked the putt in :D

This was not in a comp and I was playing on my own but I count it as it is my first eagle not on a par 3.
At Askernish, sixteenth - Old Tom's Pulpit , you can't see the flag base from the fairway but driver , 8 iron and I was looking for the ball to be in the rough at the back as the ground slopes from front to back severely. After a few mins searching I thought the flag was at a funny angle, so I had a look - and there it was.

You might as well of said same as tashyboys got, none :whoo:

That aside, played in a mixed comp betterball last week with a partner who scored on four holes. Anyway the other couple we played with. She started playin nine months ago and was excellent. He played off nine and was also very good, albeit a bit hard work on the course. Anyway on a par five, smashed his drive and then second shot leaving himself a proper snotty 30ft downhill putt with loads of break and dropped it dead plum. Though he got on my tits a bit I was proper made up for him.
First eagle I have ever seen. Excellent golf to watch

An old thread, but I told the missus and she don't care so you lot have to read it.

6th hole at Newark, 542 yards par 5.

Driver - Hybrid - 1 putt.

The next hole was a par 5 as well, and under 500yds. I gave both the shots straight back

Yay! Then boo!

I had an eagle a few weeks ago and forgot to come here and brag about it!
