Eagles! (Rolling Thread)

I remember my first eagle.
Driver about 160 and a 3wood up the hill from about 130.
Walked up the hill to the green, hunted everywhere and finally checked in the hole :D

Not quite forum distances I know but I was only about 10

Not bad for a feathery though...;)

Nice!

BTW, I'm allowing an amnesty on old eagles as long as they were within the last few weeks but hope to see them as and when they happen in future!

Nobody is interested in the sweet 7 iron I holed at Hilton park playing with my dad in 1984! :D

Was that a treat for your 30th Birthday, Kaz.:whoo:

Had one a few years back on my home course 18th.

I was 4 down in a matchplay to a fellow 7 handicapper on the 13th, won 4 out of the next 5 holes to level, then from 100 yards put it straight at the flag, few rolls and in to win on the 18th (it's a par 4) - he was gutted, but he was a gentleman and took it in good grace.

I had 1 last night in a friendly bounce game - on our 357 yard par 4 18th. 3 hybrid 202 off the tee and then a nice 6 iron, that pitched 10 yards from the flag and kept on rolling in.

It was very nearly 2 in a round, as our 10th par 5, 513 yards, Drive 286, 198 5 iron to just short of the green followed by a little pitch with the sand wedge, which hit the base of the flag and stopped about a foot out - least it was a tap in birdie!

The rest of the round, i wont talk about!!

I holed a 4 iron from 195 yards in 2014, is that too far back? ;)

I remember the cheeky little chip in against me in our match at Childwall mate - like a dagger to the heart :(
Never had a "proper" eagle myself, just a couple of holed approach shots.
One was at the 2nd on the Kings at Gleneagles though .

Another thread I can't contribute to, I get excited when I par in regulation and come over all funny when I get a birdie, which are mainly only on par 3's, BUT, it was great to play with and see Region3 eagle our 1st on his first visit to Coventry a few weeks back, no mean fete I can tell you 👍

I had one tonight, sadly not in a comp. Just a quick nine after work.
Par 5 8th, its 501 yards but plays less as the ladt 150 yards are downhill. This leaves a blind second shot if you go gor it though.
Good drive just down the left fairway. 255 left to the green (prob 220 in real money) very nicely hit 5w and must have caught the downslope. Arrived at the crest of the hill to see it had rolled to about 5ft. Uphill putt with little break and job was a good un.
Need to do the same again at the weekend.

Oh aye, forgot about that one.

They've put a 2 foot wide ditch just before the green on that one since, so doesnt encourage a lunge at it in two, anymore.:D

Bagged a lovely eagle on Tuesday evening. Good drive, 4 hybrid to 3 feet and a putt into the middle of the hole. Lovely.

Also had 3 other birdies yet only managed 9 over par. Some of my decision making on the course is pathetic, matched in woefulness by elements of my golf. A major slump despite the eagle and birdies.

Made an eagle on the first at La Cala on the America course the other week. Loved that. Smashed driver down the middle, Hybrid to the front of the green, sunk a 25 footer for eagle. Yes please.

watching the Scottish open last week at CS reminded me of the two eagles i had round there off the back tee's. one on the 7th an the 9th.

should have got a lottery ticket on the way home the way my luck was that day

Hayden Porteous has had 2 on the front 9 at Troon this morning. I bet he wishes he was a forum member so he could come on here tonight and brag about them
