Dwain Chambers?

if hes got quick enough times and clean let him have a crack at the trials! if he makes it he goes!
other disgraced sportsmen still get to represent there country. eg. Ferdinand (drugs) terry (numerous) and many others

I think lifetime ban is too much.

However, ban (for deliberate use) should be longer - to at least cover 1 Olympic period.

For once I think GB are leading the way with applying lifeterm bans and sticking to them. The sport on a whole is riddled with drug cheats and every major event turns up at least half a dozen more. For CAS to deem these bans illegal is ridiculous. If you want to try and eiliminate drug cheats then make sure the punishment for doing so ends careers.

A clean GB squad vs a few more medals?

I know which one I would choose.

You are only a cheat when you get caught, I'm sure there are many many more athletes that didn't get caught still competing. there are a few Olga's that definately look a bit manly in those Eastern European teams that I've seen but as the op if tou do get caught then IMHO you should never compete again.

Two year ban is no deterrent. Get banned aged 20, back again aged 22, so every one can have at least one crack at cheating.

Life time ban from all sports in my view.

As the rules stand now. Then yes he should have the chance to run. If all countries sing from the same song sheet. Then ban the lot for life. But you can't have some countries banning for life and some not.

But you can't have some countries banning for life and some not.[/QUOTE]

True but that shouldn`t deter us, as I mentioned earlier, I would rather win fewer medals but know that the ones we do win are true victories.

Funny, if someone cheats at golf we all wan't him /her hung, drawn and quartered, cheat in athletics and we shrug it off when thev'e served their 2 years or so. As far as I'm concerned, if you take drugs so that you can win medals that you otherwise wouldn't win, it's premeditated and clear cut, and you knew what you were doing, therefore you should never represent your country ever again - full stop!

The whole thing seems pointless to me. Even in his cheating days, Chambers would not be challenging any of the current drop of sprinters for a medal so why have him in the team. He may be the best we have to offer at the moment but he is not going to add to the medal tally so no point in courting controversy by picking him. I am not saying that he should be picked if he stood a chance of winning (I agree with life bans as far as the Olympics is concerned) but what I am saying is that he cannot compete with the best so why risk the controversy by having him in the team.

he has served his ban under the governing bodies rules and should be allowed to run,and at least he is from this country unlike some of the GB team that are no more than mercenaries drafted in.As for the medal count some of the teams we are having represent us cant make the qualifying scores needed but are being allowed in because of home advantage. If the sports governing body is getting millions to improve sport but is falling well short and not achieving should we just forget sending anyone next time that doesn't at least have a chance.

The way i see it is this.
Ban and Ban for life.
Imagine if cheats get away with it,they will keep doing it until caught.
Until a life ban sticks, cheats will always be trying to beat the system.
It makes me so angry now this post has been put on..
I can guarantee now that if Bradley Wiggins wins the Tour De France he will be clean.
