Been watching a bit of the golf from the Dunhill Links, some descent scores out there and Pieters just drove the 407 yard par 4 7th hole.

A few of the European Ryder Cup team out there struggling and I see Westwood is playing with Chubby, was hard to work out who was who between them as they were both hacking it about.

Going up tomorrow to watch the play round Kingsbarns & have a game booked there for Monday morning.

My annual post on this tournament ranting about the celebrities who play in it. Out rolls Rednap, Botham, Hugh Grant, Shane Warn, Michael Vaughan, Ronan Keating, Alan Hansen, Bryan McFadden etc etc gushing about 'the best week of the year'. (Yes I'm a little jealous) Don't know why it bugs me but it just does. Why not get some young kids to play. That said, I like seeing players playing with their dads/brothers etc etc.

I'm guessing they pay a lot of money for the privilege maybe ? But agree with what you're saying

Laughing at them all wearing woolly hats and big puffy bodywarmers. It's lovely outside.

I doubt they pay. Good publicity for the tournament to have these celebs in. I'm sure there are lots of shared agents that help get their clients out on the course. I'm pretty sure the tournament struggled before they started this format.

Pretty sure the celebs pay for the privilege as it all goes to charity and therefore raises the amount. I'm sure they'd never reveal how much it costs to book a spot but it isn't like these people are scrimping to afford the entry

The last amateur tee time was auctioned off on eBay and raised £25,000 to charity. It's a lot to pay for what might only be two incredibly slow rounds of golf. :)

I'm heading over to the Old on Saturday night for the fireworks and Sunday to watch play, always enjoy it. :) Might hang around there on Saturday too if I can't get a game.

Interesting. It is certainly an ego massage for them so I'm quite pleased to hear that charity will benefit.
