Does anyone else suffer with dry sore hands after playing golf in the cold? :o

The pads on my thumbs become very sore and inflamed after a cold round.:mmm:

Could this be a sign of a grip fault? (bob?)

Just moist them each morning and you will notice the difference within a few days, it ain't very manly but it does works as I suffer with this as I work out side.

It could well be that beggsy.

Stop gripping too hard

If you think you're gripping too hard, have you considered adding a few extra wraps of tape under your grips?

I always played stock grips with the one layer of tape but always suspected I needed a few more layers.

I went to see a pro who confirmed my grips were too small for my hands. I had the number of layers fitted he suggested and my grip pressure is much improved.

Hand cream, nivea, moisturiser.....the worrying thing is that its the men on the forum suggesting this and not the ladies. No doubt one of the ladies will be along soon to tell you to 'man up':D

This.... :)

Man up.

Seriously though - cold weather dries out the skin as does mud and muck. My right thumb gets very dry and cracked if I don't use hand cream during winter as I clean the ball and my clubs by a quick rub with my thumb. So a decent hand cream as soon after playing as possible but not before as it will clog up your grips. Then apply it again at night when you're about to go to sleep as it allows it to soak in overnight.

I suffer from dry skin (face in particular) and find the body shop hemp range really helps

Another thumbs up for these products, face protector and hand balm. I get sore tips on the thumb and index finger of right hand. Being s house husband doesn't help with cleaning etc. I just thought I was a wus so didn't post earlier!
