Evening all

It's my mates 40th soon and I'm thinking of getting us each a driving experience day.

Has anyone done one where you were impressed? Can be on or off road.

I've done a couple before and they always leave me underwhelmed.

phew, thought this was about me constantly missing the fairway left!

my brother used to rave about days at silverstone if any help, not my cup of tea tbh

I did the formula Ford experience at brands. I was grinning ear to ear afterwards 😊

I did the same formula Ford and BMW half day at Brands 23 years ago. It was great fun, but very limited in the speeds you could do as it was damp on track.

I know someone that did the Mercedes skid pan experience at Brooklands. They really enjoyed it, and it thought it made them a better driver.

Phil Price rally school. You won’t get a better experience anywhere else for the money Track days are alright but you aren’t allowed to really put it to the test which is understandable being expensive supercars.

I did a skid pan course at Thruxton many years ago....was hugely enjoyable as well as being beneficial to my driving.

Easily sorted Adam ,just go round the M25 during rush hour mate ,it's an experience you will never forget.
😁

I was hoping for something a bit faster mate 😂

I like the idea of the skid pan training, I may be too fat for the formula ford.... Will investigate.

Has anyone done a 4x4 off road experience?

A day at Brands Hatch was a day I'll never forget. To drive along the start/finish line thinking of the people like Senna, Hill etc etc who'd done it previously was a great thrill.

I did one at Thruxton earlier this year and loved it - only really wanted the single-seater part and I really thought I was flooring it until one of the demo drivers came past me like I was standing still. Went back to the pits realising I was driving like Officer Hooks in Police Academy.

Totally recommend it to anyone - just get them to choose the parts they want, single seater, flash sports car, skid pan etc. Even tank driving is good.

Had a couple of friends do Ferrari days and were not massively impressed. Nephew has done an off the road experience and loved it. I have done neither

If there happens to be a group of you, why not consider something slightly out of the box, like Hover craft racing and/or rifle shooting or quad bike racing etc. We did this and everyone in the group from teenager to over 70s, loved the hovercraft racing, really different, hard work and great fun.

One in Kent on the following link (we went to one in Cheshire):- https://outdoorpursuits.com/

The best one is here: https://www.palmersport.com/ you actually get to 'Drive' the cars properly, i did one of those red letter days Lamborghini supercar things and it was dull, not allowed to drive them quick, heavily policed etc, palmer sport is the pinnacle of driving experiences, but you get what you pay for!

Most people would not get much out of a Ferrari, or a lambo on a track. The cars are way too quick for most peoples standard of driving, and limping a supercar round a track is boring.
Thrashing a hot hatch round would be way more fun.

I did saloon high performance driven by an instructor and single seater at Thruxton. I enjoyed the day but thought that the tuition on how to drive a single seater without synchromesh was very poor. Virtually all my laps were used up just trying to get the gear changes correct.

One of the best 'days' I have had is hazardous driving, at Exeter (where they train the police drivers).
