For the record I too would have taken Ethan's original reply as rude and condescending.

I have read and re-read Ethan's original reply and can find no hint of rudeness. As to being condescending, perhaps what you saw as condescending was someone expressing a view based on a greater knowledge of the subject.

Really.......any need to go over this old subject? It is finished with. Oh and by the way before you make assumptions on a person regarding his knowledge of a subject, maybe get some of your facts correct. For all you now he could have been playing for over 20 years, has held a cat 1 handicap, maybe he did an Engineering Degree and part of that did a study on the manufacturing of golf clubs and how modern technology has changed the game.
