Driver - Making unconvincing noises in backswing and through impact.

If you head to toe and back again can you hear anything running up and down the shaft. If yes then it's a bit of loose epoxy resin. I have known shafts to loosen in the adapter because of poor epoxy mixes.

I had something very similar but it was in my driver head, I had to put the head in hot(not boiling water) for a few minutes and then let it cool. Never had a problem since. I would add you could hear the 'thing' moving even when just moving the head, so may not be your problem.

I think I would take the shaft out, given it a good clear up etc, have a good listen and put it back together and see if that solves the problem.

I noticed that if I took the driver, flipped it around and dropped the grip straight onto a tile floor from about 1ft up you would hear the same sound (like a click/ping sound it made when in use). So then I pulled the shaft out last night, cleaned both the hosel and the shaft, sprayed some WD40 on the shaft/screw/hosel and then re-torqued it. Then I flipped it around and dropped it on the floor the same way as before and the sound was gone. I re-torqued again just to be sure the screw was still tight. After taking a couple of swings it seemed to be holding up. I need to go to the range with it and see how it really does under hard use, fingers crossed.
