I am still not advocating DD, or trying to justify it. I am trying to point out that the attitude towards it is not proportionate to the risk it poses.
It appears that only Hobbit seemed to understand this. As usual people who didn't understand it just said I'm an idiot. I don't think why they think I'm an idiot is correct, but I couldn't argue against me being an idiot.
This is because I joined the forum to have a laugh. To smile at peoples jokes and hopefully make some of them smile at my so called witticisms.
Instead I ended up, a newbie, posting a controversial point on a emotive subject. Even I'm beginning to think I'm some sort of troll.
I am human and I do have emotions. I can see that 400 deaths a year is tragic. I can see the link between irresponsible behaviour and these deaths. I can see why people want to cut the balls off drink drivers.
But what I believe is:- I can't make rational judgements when emotional or pissed. So I try to ignore emotion when making decisions. This often makes me seem callous or insensitive.
I could argue for England, if I was more patriotic. In the future I might resurrect this thread and point out why I think Hobbits post is based on emotion and isn't reasonable or rational. Or I might start a new post on why I think peoples reasoning and logic are flawed.(Yes......I can handle the derogatory replies)
But it is the Friday before Christmas. I have finished work and it is the season of good will. So I will revert to my original plan of a bit of banter on the forum and forget about trying to change the world.
So I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Phill.
