Drinking alcohol on the course

I'm really not sure why there is a need to drink while playing golf and don't see how it can help in any way. But if someone wants to have the odd can, doesn't leave the rubbish all over the course and doesn't affect me then no problem.

My own view is that drinking is for the bar but each to their own

i dont usually partake in alcohol when playing. last year on a scorching hot day i took two ice cold bottles to the course as i knew id be there from around 12 til 8. it felt nice drinking them but i never repeated it as it was a bit of a hassel pushing the trolly, taking shots and holding a bottle.

on captains day when we reach the burger tent at the 10th we get the option of a beer or water.if its a nice day ill take a beer and put in in my bag. it gets cracked open later when i blow my round! one year i managed to keep it in my bag the rest of the round.

Alcohol dehydrates, it is probably the worst thing you could drink on a hot day while playing golf (IMHO of course)

To all the people who drink a few on the course I hope the police are sat outside your golf club to take your licence off you. Because no doubt if you are the type who has to drink on the course you will sink another couple in the bar afterwards.

At the end of the day I do not have a problem with people having a couple of beers on the course, that is if they are not getting drunk as that could become dangerous to others and stop their enjoyment of the game. But it really annoys me when I see people sitting in the clubhouse drinking 2 or 3 pints then getting in their car and driving home. I might have a beer afterwards, but it is one of those Carling C2 (2% ABV) they taste ok and I know I will not be any where near the legal limit.

I will now get off my moral high horse.......:sbox:

How do you know they are not drinking the same stuff as you ?

Not everyone drives to their golf club and even if they do how do you know they drive home, you seem to be tarring everyone with the same stick here, who do you think you are.

And who are you calling a mod edit, from what I can see after reading you post you seem more like a mod edit for making such comments without knowing all the facts, now go get some soap out your soap box and wash your mouth out and do the right thing and appologize to all the people you have offended.

With the way I play golf sometimes a beer or two is the only way to get me round the course. In fact, some days I'm surprised that I'm not swigging whisky from the bottle and injecting heroin into my eyeballs by the 7th tee to take away the pain.

we played in a comp as a fourball one time, and our 4th had to pull out at the last minute as his wife was having a baby so we had another one of our regulars fill his space and we had a bottle of corona on the first to celebrate.

Is there anything in the T&Cs of your golf insurance to say you aren't covered if you're under the influence? Just a thought, only ever have a quick bit of whisky at the start of the 10th hole on a cold day.

If im playing a round with my mates, say weve booked a 4 ball time at a local club, we'll usually get a cab there and have a couple of cans while walking round and then more in the clubhouse after. I have a hip flask of whiskey in my bag which I might take a drop of every now and again.

I'll stay after a round at my place for drinks and food, but only pots of tea or pints of grapefruit juice and lemonade as I wont drink and drive. There are people who do, but I think they are idiots.

"Edited" is a disgusting word Adey. I actually find it very offensive. Poor choice IMO.

Wow - where did anyone say anything about drinking and driving?!

Just because someone has a couple of drinks on the course instead of / as well as in the 19th doesn't automatically mean their going to drink drive you ignorant tool!

I despise drink driving - but that doesn't mean I avoid drinking alcohol when I'm not driving!

I very rarely have a drink on the course, if I do it tends to beon captains day when I'm having a bad round so once a year if that.

I remeber a bloke at my old course who on occasions would take a bottle of Bacardi out with him on and it would be pretty much finished by the 18th. He was a little crazy to say the least, he ended up rolling a buggy down a steep hill a few years back.

The halfway hut where i play often has a fully stocked fridge. mid summer, a nice ice cold bottle of lager is very very pleasant after 9 holes! (they have an enforced 10 minute stop at the halfway hut, so the tenth bin is not full of empties!)

Now that has to be one of the most ridiculous club rules ever!

It actually works quite well, as for some reason 10,11,12 get jammed up even if you have not been held up on the front 9..

Anyway, i am off to the course with a 24 pack of wife beaters, hope my car gets me home ok after. ;)

Take my choice of words which ever way you want. But if you do not sink 2 or 3 cans on the course followed by another couple in the bar afterwards, then get in your car and drive home then it was not aimed at you.

By the way Picto read my post properly then comment next time. It clearly says that I do not have a problem with anyone who has a couple on the course followed by a few in the bar afterwards, as long as they then do not get in their car afterwards to drive home. So you may find you are the ignorant tool for commenting on a post you have not actually read properly.

The old boys do it all the time at my place, even more so in winter. Played with a couple of old boys in the winter league that sunk a hip flask each then another couple of pints in the bar then drove home. Most of the old boys at my place are doing it, you see them have 2 or 3 pints of ale then drive in the Tuesday/Thursday swindle every week. That is who my rant was aimed at.

So if anyone has taken offence for me calling them a mod edit then obviously you do have a few then drive and see no problem with it, so maybe the word is a good way to sum you up.

There you go again.....

Please define Mod Edit in your own words:

I agree that anyone drinking and driving are taking a big risk and hope that they the get caught before they harm anyone and that they should lose their license but your choice of Word is shocking and it has no place on this forum.

Very surprised that it has not been removed:confused:

I will hold my hands up and the use of a certain word was maybe out of line and I apologise to anyone who took offence to it.

But I just have a real big problem with people sinking a few and getting in a car. I would have a safe bet that some of the people on here saying that they do drink on the course get in their car afterwards and drive, even though they would not admit to it.

can we move on folks, I've edited some posts to remove a certain word. I've pm'd the initial poster and explained and he has posted his apology above.

Lets move on now please.
