As we all like the game do you feel his future addition is much welcomed or not needed ?

Having watched him on the news and openly slate the man's property all because he ain't willing to sell for love or money still there is no need for any businessman to act like that .

After watching that press conference I really hope Donald Trump fails and now with others locals buying land to stop the process looks like the venture becoming a non starter .
He may say the only thing affected is the Hotel if that's the case why critcise a man who ain't willing to sell ..

Typical bitter American that can't get his way even though he may be rich and can't accept that money ain't everything to a person .

indifferent either way but I think the economy would be crazy to turn it down tbh, all the business's up there want it and it would bring in tons of money. I'm in Balmedie every Monday and what I've heard the majority want it.If it were me i'd bite his hand off for the offer he's been made.

Big Nay here. Trump is an insufferable egomaniac and self publicist.

I played Trump National LA, near Long Beach, a course used in the Big Break series which has the women and senior men. Trunp reckons it rivals Pebble Beach. It only resembles Pebble Beach in that there are golf holes and you can see the ocean. Otherwise it is dull and forgettable, and the only thing I remember from playing was the big green fee and seeing Mark Wahlberg buying a hot dog at the halfway house. He is a bit of a shortarse, you know.

Trump only wants a course in Scotland to add another country to his empire, and it is great for helicoptering in his fatcat friends for a game on real "links". Ordinary golfers will not be welcome.

It will happen regardless of people buying sections of land.
The government (the Scottish talking shop variety) is so desperate for inward investment it will be sending out the compulsory purchase notices before long.
The tenent has had his say and created a news story but the democratic body voted in my the locals voted it through.
He should just take everything he can get from Trump (new house, job, course membership) before he gets minimum settlement.

Interesting replies .. though with the Complusory Purchase Order how can the Council claim land from those that have bought it ? if the people that bought land are not willing to sell it on any grounds .

That would be theft plain and simple .

And in all things democratic a Council or Goverment would not like to be seen a thieves but wait they always have been..

Just a side thought.
In Holland (i.i.r.c.) there's no such thing as compulsory purchase of land. If the Dutch government wants to build a road or golf course, they just have to go around the land in the way; hence why you get dog-legs on motorways.

Two sides to every story ....

Having worked in Aberdeen a fair bit in recent times I'd say there is probably a majority who would want the development and the business and employment it will bring to the area.

PS - Slum is probably the correct description by the way, I've seen it ;)

Donald Trump seems to be as horrible as his wig, but if it would bring much needed revenue to the area the guy should let him build it.

I think the you cant loose sight of the fact that Trump will make the most money out of it,no matter what he says he isnt doing it for the good of the area

When the oil runs out, Aberdeen is going to need alternative income streams. So, let him build it!

It'll be many. many, many, many years before the North Sea Oil fields are dry and exploration has stopped!

Aberdeen's wealth is assured for a good many years to come.

Good. Can we tell his Royal Trumpingness to do one then?
