good going, try cutting out to much salt and starchy foods, you should do other types of exercise to shock your body into burning more calories,i train 3 times a week ( help run a boxing gym ) but find swimming to be very beneficial low impact for the joints and enjoyable, keep it up.

Totally correct fella, but i cant take my new clubs to the swimming pool. lol only joking.....

Don't you have to get your heart rate up to lose weight though? You can burn calories standing still. Obviously everyone is different but I know for a fact that if I don't run a couple of times a week on top of golf I put weight on. Walking round a golf course isn't the slightest bit taxing to me and I most certainly wouldn't class it as weight losing exercise.

You burn cals just breathing, however very few. You need to burn 3,500 calories above what you input to lose 1lb. Thats the basic equation. If you're strict and measure, you'll find its incredibly accurate.

To lose/gain weight you have to take into account diet aswell as exercuse. Input/Output. If you gain weight without running you're either consuming above your allowance or the calories might be coming from alcohol related drinks.

If someone ate a calorie controlled healthy diet and played golf 4-5 times a week they would lose weight. Heart rate is linked of course. One hour of cycling v one hour of golf would be a huge difference in terms of calories burnt and heart rate. Plus of course actual fitness levels, the ability of your heart to beat at a higher level for longer, thus pumping more oxygen around your muscles.

Look at it like this, golf is basically walking for 2-3 hours (excluding shot time, waiting around) with 20lbs on your back. If someone did that 5 times a week it would be classed as decent exercise. I'm not advocating golf as the best way to lose weight for the record! However it could be used as a gradual way to burn calories but wouldn't be as effective as cycling/swimming/rowing/running.
