Does it count?

I nearly had a hole-in-one when playing a nine hole practice round by myself a few weeks ago. Fortunately it just lipped out so I wasn't faced with the problem of proving it. I have had a real one while playing in a competition, so I have at least had a witnessed one!

if only the hole was bigger..........

The scenario,
I'm on the 15th tee 162 yards, over water with the pin tight to the front. I hit an 8 iron off the ground rather than teeing it up and it flies straight and true to the green, bounces, checks and in the hole.
The conundrum,
There is no one else out there, not a soul, not even a greenkeeper.
So does it really count?
It does, unless you wake up two minutes later.;)

What about my only hole in one, I've never counted it but I've told people about it, out for a practice round by myself, hit a lovely ball 180 yards to about 3 feet from the hole, thought wow that was good, wonder if i can do it again. Second shot straight in the hole.
