Do you worry between games?

Hi,

So I have this thing where if I don't play as well as I can I worry about it until I can get back on course. That is usually a week.

Have I forgotten how to play? Will it ever come back? Should I go to the range (this never helps), and so on.

Anyone else get this or can you box it up and not think about it?

I get the opposite too where if I play well I ride that all week and feel godlike.

Same here. That is one of the reasons I hate winter so much. In summer I can go back to the golf course after work during the week and at least hit a few balls on the rangeor play a round on our par3 course, to assure myself that I can, indeed, still hit the ball. A week after a bad round is torture. Two bad weeks in a row throw me into a serious depression.

Worry? I rarely give a bad game a second thought. How many times have you turned in an exceptional score the week after playing badly for weeks? And you can go on a run of great games only to turn out like a numpty the very next week. It happens. We don't put in 20+hrs practice a week, and certainly not at the facilities pro's use.

Things to worry about are gas bills, council tax, car repairs death and destruction! Worry about golf... hahahahaha...

I might dwell on it for an hour or so but any more than that, unless your livelihood is on the line, you're taking it too seriously..

Chill out All!

The only time I feel like that is when I'm on the course and playing poorly (again!!) and it seems to be never ending....it's all forgotten 10 mins after getting in the bar though. In between rounds I'm looking forward to the next game in the usually mistaken belief that I will "murder that course" on Saturday. Occasionally, just occasionally it comes true and I'll take that.

I am not worried about any of these things... leaves me time to worry about golf. maybe I should buy a bigger house or something so that I dont worry about golf :D

Ian: You play every day... no time to worry about yesterday!

Its irrational though..I did not use to worry I had forgotten how to play rugby...

No, I don't worry about it, I'm an amateur and I'm old, what's to worry about?

Mind you, hit a bad shot or 4 at a forum meet and you'll never be allowed to forget!

I wouldn't say I worry, but after a bad round I do tend to analyse in my head where I think I was going wrong once I get home. Then when I think I've realised what I was doing wrong I itch to get back on the course to prove to myself that all is better in my own little golfing world.
My problem is when I've had a really good round, in my head I think I've cracked this stupid game and step on the 1st tee the following week full of confidence and slice my tee shot straight OOB. Then I'm back to the reality that I am rubbish at golf.

Had a bout of the sh*nks at the range last week. I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't nervous heading into Sunday's round. Didn't hit one all game.

I never worry about golf.
Why, until you mentioned it, I had completely forgotten about my drive up the 7th at Castle Stuart in 2011 which set the rot in on an otherwise brilliant start to a round.

Funnily enough Facebook reminded me that I shout 79 2 years ago yesterday for my first sub 80. I remember having a little paddy that day on the 4th tee box and went on to a PB.

I do not worry when I am playing... just when I am not. I feel like I might forget everything.

I may mull over a couple of fluffed chips, sliced drives and missed putts for the duration of a post- round pint...or whilst i'm editing my GameGolf

After that I'm buzzing for the next game/range visit.

Worry? No way...my problem is that I cant sleep before a game due to excitement.

No worry for me, similar to others, it is anticipation. I want to make the most of it when I am out there, and had been getting a bit worked up on the course, but spent time working on that and my round was much better on Saturday for it. Despite the rain!

No never, just excitement the night before!

I do worry when I shank 40 balls in a row at the range though....Never seem to shank on the course thankfully though.

I'll stew on it as I stick the stats in, see where I went wrong and try and improve next time. Maybe hit the range to right the wrongs but I don't lose any sleep over a game no matter how bad I've played
