when your making a big purchase do you have a special tactic to do it. eg buy her something she wants or just keep it a secret?

To be fair when ever i go AG my mrs expects me to come home at least with a t shirt and is suprised if i return empty handed. As for big purchashes she paid half for my irons so was there and knew the cost. Normally i admit when i buy clubs etc but i tend to make things cheaper haha. Still flirting with the idea of either revamping my wood/hybrid setup or getting a proper wedge setup done and ditch the standard sw. Just looking for other peoples tactics before i decide which route to take.

No tactic needed.

I tell her if I'm buying something and she does the same. Unless we're saving for something, it wouldn't ever be a problem.

My MRS doesnt know one golf club from another, so would get away with anything.......!!!
But, I fund my purchases from my 'secret stash' , that Ive built up from ebay trading over many years, still got WAY TOO MANY clubs in the Garage / Warehouse:D ( anybody wanta wedge...?? ... got loads )

So the Current ( joint ) Account isnt used....... and HID none the wiser............

we are saving but to be fair we are well ahead of our target so i think i deserve a treat

oh yeah i wouldnt spend from the joint account it would only come from mine as she would wear certain parts of me for ear rings if i started to "waste" her money on golf haha

Not really a tactic but if I'm on the buy for something, I'm normally open. She knows whats in the bag so would spot anything new. She's good enough to trust me that if I say I'm buying something for a specific reason it's because my enjoyment/level of play will improve for it.

Perfect example is my irons and fairways are now too weak shaft wise, this is due to improvements over the past year. As long as the other stuff goes to part fund and I don't shop outside my budget I'll think she will be ok. It's the wasteful purchases that get her back up, but to be fair I've given up all other hobbies and cut back on lads nights out etc,......

as far as she is concerned -

1. I only ever purchase golf stuff with competition winnings
2. I'm really very good at the game

unfortunately both stretch the facts a little (lot)

No, I don't need to have a tactic because the missus lets me do pretty much what I want, I work all week, don't go to the pub or anything (my choice!) and help around the house and with the baby, so if I want a new club she has no excuse to moan about it!

She's fine with it. Most of the time she's usually seen me trying stuff out or looking it and so has a good guestimate of the price. As long as we can cover the bills, put a bit away, whatever is left she doesn't usually mind if I use it on golf

Or spend on shoes, you can never have enough shoes.

Homer, you sure your not a woman ;)

I tell her and then I tell her to get back in the kitchen lol. Being serious she knows what I purchase but doesnt quite know what it costs sometimes. I used to spend a lot more on football so shes quite happy with my golfing expenditure.

I'm in the eBay stash club for upgrades. Had close call last summer when cleaning the clubs HID says this one looks new have you changed your clubs?! OMG excuse excuse it's a 3 iron I don't use it much! :-)

I have already bought all that I really need.
It's time that my Mrs is getting edgy with.
I told her that I am only playing / practising so much because I want to improve as much as possible before the season starts;)

Although I have improved immensely, I still sneak off to the course at every opportunity.
She banned me from playing today because she wanted to spend some time with me & go out.
Still not too bad, cos I am playing on Thurs / Fri & Sat:whoo:

I dont get it - why aren't your HIDs all delighted that you go out and play golf. If it was me, punt me a few quid and I'd happily go sit in a spa, or buy some shoes.

I did that at the Forest of Arden. HID went off to Birmingham for the day shopping while I played the GM Centenary final. Very big and expensive mistake. If I have a FJ fetish, how can any woman justify 10 handbags?

She's hitting the big shopping centre at Milton Keynes while I'm at Woburn. My money is on a Karen Miller or Radley bag, clearing the shelves at M&S and probably a beauty treatment or haircut somewhere. That'll test the overdraft facility

She has her money, I have mine. We don't judge each other, although, how many shoes does a girl need. I've got 9 pairs of trainees, and that is too many (although some of them are classics - adidas Ivan lendl,Harvard,Bamba, Grand prix, samba and Diadora borg elite).

I have shoes, handbags and golf clubs
lucky me, eh?!
