The Grinder Of Pars (Semi Crocked)
By that I mean one that you frequently don't take enough time over and more often than not end up in a worse position than you should be...
Mine is the Lay-Up on a par 5
Classic example was the other day on out 17th - 500 yards downhill-ish but with a ditch 40 yards short of the green making it a tricky one to carry. Unless you hit a good one off the tee then a lay-up is needed.
It's only a bunt with a 7 iron or something similar and this is what I tried the other day. But I didn't concentrate enough on it, hooked it and then had to play my 3rd from the 1st cut over bushes and around trees instead of in the clear on the fairway...
Still made Par but it was about 10 times more tricky than it should have been and a birdie was virtually impossible due to the poor lay-up.
I know I do this and it bugs the hell out of me but keeping that concentration on a "simple" shot seems to elude me.
