By that I mean one that you frequently don't take enough time over and more often than not end up in a worse position than you should be...

Mine is the Lay-Up on a par 5
Classic example was the other day on out 17th - 500 yards downhill-ish but with a ditch 40 yards short of the green making it a tricky one to carry. Unless you hit a good one off the tee then a lay-up is needed.
It's only a bunt with a 7 iron or something similar and this is what I tried the other day. But I didn't concentrate enough on it, hooked it and then had to play my 3rd from the 1st cut over bushes and around trees instead of in the clear on the fairway...
Still made Par but it was about 10 times more tricky than it should have been and a birdie was virtually impossible due to the poor lay-up.

I know I do this and it bugs the hell out of me but keeping that concentration on a "simple" shot seems to elude me.

Yep, if I'm chipping out from under the trees to find the fairway, I often fluff it and end up in the first cut, rather than giving it that bit extra to find the fairway. Very complacent and frustrating.

Yep certainly do. Its always the shot into the green from 200 yards in to 60 yards in I never take enough time and always put myself in the wrong area, When I do take my time and think about it the results aint to bad. Do it way to often and cost myself way to many shots

.
our 5th can be like that , its a par 5 with a river maybe 30 yrds in front, lake all the way along the left , red stakes half way around behind and bunkers to the right .. if you nail a drive off the whites you can take on the 2nd all right , off the blues its a 3 shotter .. drive & couple of wedges does the job , its so easy to get lazy on the 2nd shot tho , that can make the 3rd tricky esp if the wind blows at all

iron off the tee in an effort to be sensible and still end up thinning or slicing it into trouble because I'm already thinking about my nice full 8 iron in to the green and how sensible I am for not trying to smash the driver off the tee

The "I'll just finish" tap in - straddle two people's lines and try to hook it in.

Why can't I just mark it and wait!!!??

Mine used to be the same, but I have made a conscious effort this year to pick a spot on the fairway, normally a dark patch or cut line in the grass and I try to hit that spot as if it were the flag. It's really helped me focus.

Good question Ian.

My lazy shot is a mid range pitch, usually around 50 yards.

I, for some reason, get very quick at transition and the results become erratic. I'll normally hit the green, or just off, but be absolutely no where near where i was aiming

Def the lay up or the 1 ft putt over others lines. Why do we do it!

Oh and ther "I'm not comfortable somethings wrong, I'll just hit it anyway" cue hook/top or any other shot you just didn't want to hit! I am getting better at this though. Did it on the 18th on Saturday. Toll a step back, set up again and thumped it down onto the green. Must do it more often.

A pitch shot from 50-70 yards. Tend to think its simple and swing too easy and usually end up with a huge pull left. Cost me an OB our 4th in the comp the other week as the green is banked and OB is only 10 yards away. Once it catches the bank its dead.

My lazy shot normally comes after a very good shot, for example ill hit a cracking drive then think ill just knock the second on and make an easy par which results in little thought over the shot.

Done all of those! And far too often!

Most frustrating one though is the 'something's not right' at set-up, but instead of standing back and re-setting I carry on and proceed to make a horlicks of the shot!

Same as this.... It always catches me.... Im there stood over the ball knowing that something isnt right yet i still say to myself you'll be grand..... 2 mins later im usually re-teeing.....

Not coming off the shot when I'm not happy with the setup then lose my concentration on the shot, lose focus on the target and may as well shout "FORE!" before I finish the back swing as it's not going to end well or be pretty!
