Hi all,

Seriously though, for those who practice a lot would think be helpful in your opinion?

Draw backs? Sure I can imagin that a lot of the data is simulated but I am short of the £30k I need for my Trackman.

Could be interesting... or not?

Would be really helpful if 2 conditions are met; 1 it is accurate (and have to admit Id have huge doubts) and 2 the data means something to you and you know how to improve your swing based on the data

Feels a touch like a gimmick to me, could be useful if proved accurate and if used in conjunction with a decent teaching pro though, big ifs tho

launch angle over 4 degrees out from a base of 16 degrees - that one bit of data to me says nowhere near accurate enough.

I leave the launch monitor numbers until I have my lesson with a pro. That way I can see things like club face at impact, launch angle, spin and distance. That way we can dissect it through the changes we are making and hopefully see an improvement. Range sessions for me are about quality of the strike and ball direction, working on drills and generally tuning my game. Numbers aren't important to me

Are you saying that you have found out that it is up to 4 degrees out?

TM -
111.9 ball speed
159 carry
16.2 vert launch
1.375 smash factor

iTrainer
77.5 club head speed (times TM smash factor = 106.5625 ball speed)
20.6 vert launch (vs TM 16.2, 4.4 out)
155 carry (4 yards shorter)

So yeh it's not spot on for any factor really. really wished TM had got the club path / face to compare.

I'm really keen to get a launch monitor for reasonable money (even up to £500..) as i want to know my average shot distance (of course i have an idea, but having some good reliable averages would be great) but it looks like the search carries on..

There was a guy at the range (Nicky Lumb in Bristol) last night who had his laptop on the edge of one of the normal bays (not the fitting bay). I thought maybe he has a camera rigged up, or one of those shaft mounted things. I glanced in as I walked past and he has a full flipping trackman in there!
I would have loved to get a bay near him to see what it was all about, maybe even ask for a hit on it but the place was rammed so I ended up right down the other end in a bay with a broken light, hitting in the dark.
