hi ,,i was hitting a driver on a pour 4 with the wind behind the ball it was a slight dog leg right on a slight slope down hill ,,straight away i thought if i hit this right it will go on the green witch i have never done before ,i lined my body to ball & target & hit the ball so sweet i shouted four as soon as my swing had finished ,,the ball ended up 4foot from the flag,,it was the best shot i have ever hit with the conditions being perfect to put the ball on the green i then looked at the distance on the score card 337yrds my alignment was straight over the dog leg straight to green

How is the distance measured ??????

forgot to mention i then putted in 2 making a birdy (gutted not to make eagle)

As said before from tee to apex of dogleg, then usually to centre of green (look in the course yardage book if you can it usually gives where distances are measured to)

Is it really to the apex and not down the centre of the fairway?

If so, ignore my post on the other distance measuring thread. :o

“Measurement shall be along the horizontal plane from theDistance Point to the centre of the green on each hole. In the case of adog-leg hole, measurement shall be along the centre line of the fairway to theaxis and then to the centre of the green.”

yeah as above, the distance will be down the centre of the fairway then to the green.

if you had a gps system it would give you the yardage as the crow flies.directly from tee to green.you could also use the google maps measuring tool to workout the yardage from tee to green if you want to know how far you hit it.
