Hi I am aware this is very off topic, currently in my final year of a Human Geography degree at Leeds Metropolitan university. So going through the dreaded hell of dissertation. It would be a massive help to me if you could answer the questions in the link below, the dissertation itself is based around the idea that individuals can have a positive effect on combating climate change. ANY answers will be very useful if you have no idea what I am talking about one bit and don't care about the subject please state so, everyone's opinions will be very useful! So please answer honestly, you'll be doing myself a huge favour! So thank you :) Oh and the boring bit I have full ethical approval to do this and will not be using peoples names or usernames going forward. Once Again thank you! :) Any questions please ask!

Any opinions outside of these questions will also be welcome! :)
Oh and the golf is going rubbish at the minute due to this :(

Environmental biologist here, I could go on for hours! Do you have any specific questions yourself?

If you also have any questions on survey writing and statistical analysis let me know!

Will do so! How do I take down this thread? I'll start a new one with correct link to survey on survey monkey

We should have a quick chat first, if not me then one of the other more qualified individuals on here. Don't rush into a repost or you might skew your responses!

Basically in a nutshell, I'm wondering whether you think we can play a role in combating climate change or if it needs to be a purely governmental lead approach?

I'm a mathemetician so no-one listens to me as I can explain multi-dimensional space if not parallel universes - but I've still done your survey :) Still cannae putt.

If I was your tutor I'd fail you for that piece of work. Taking aside the childish grammar and syntax errors the questions are loaded. You have produced a questionnaire on the presumption that that the answer is either I do something the government does something or we both do something. The survey presumes that something must be done and we all agree that something must be done. Whilst it may be that something should / must be done, you can't have a valid survey which forces the respondent to make a choice of a, b or c when d is also a valid choice but not available to choose!

Failed

Do you really need to launch a little attack at my work? My tutor is more than happy with the work and research I am undertaking. This survey is combined with earlier interviews and other research, im just supporting that by seeing what individuals feel. If you don't like it don't help simple, it's stressful time enough without you having your say. Too quick to judge if you ask me! Another thread being hijacked by personal jabs!

Didn't think the survey was THAT bad, its a skill anyone who wants to conduct them has to develop. In truth its a hard skill and this is a better start than before but there is also a lot you could improve.

For what's it worth @Dcross92 - if I wanted to say that Global Warming was a load of minced collops I would have had the opportunity within the scope of what you asked. Mathematicians and Risk Managers don't always answer the question posed because they usually know the question that should have been asked, and so will answer their own question instead :) Hope you found my risk analysis words useful in the context of what you are doing (though I may have been teaching you to suck eggs), as thinking in a structured way about risk does help to put some structure around arguments such as that on global warming.

Done it for you but I agree, slightly loaded questions. Typical of your generation who believe that MAN MADE global warming is based in scientific fact when this is simply not the case.

Read Watermelons by James Dellingpole for another take on this highly divisive subject.

Nuclear Power? Yes please.

Wind Farms? No thanks.

Answered as best I can...

Married to a 'tree hugger' ;):)...

FWIW... I've been around for almost 60 years... Has 'my' planet 'changed'??? I think so... Have 'we' something to do with this change? Almost certainly... Can 'we' doing something about 'it'? Not so sure :(...

And another one done. I thought some of the questions were a either a bit loaded or could have been better phrased, but there were also more than enough free text boxes to get my point across.

Chernobyl? No thanks!

Wind farms? Yes please!

See Whitelee Wind Farm - vast and I think actually not nearly as obtrusive on the environment as you'd imagine it would be. So possible to do acceptable on-shore wind farms. However see The Tiree Array and the impact it would have visually and on the life, environment and culture of the Island of Tiree. That's the problem. That balance is difficult.
