• Thank you all very much for sharing your time with us in 2025. We hope you all have a safe and happy 2026!

Did you play golf this weekend.

Nope, didn't play golf this weekend. Was meant to play in a 36 hole OOM yesterday - instead I turned up and shanked, duffed and generally stunk out the hole course for 8 hours!!!

after the advice I received from this forum I've been working hard on my course management, last two rounds have been net 68 and 36 points stableford. This week I shot 71 (par 70) with 2 pars 1 double, 1 treble(oob) and 14 bogeys which were attained by plotting my way round, not taking on stupid shots and being quite boring! Handicap 18.5

Friendly round on Saturday at Woodham GC with Kellfire and the old man and had the front 9 of my life +2 gross and 26 points, back to normal on the back 9 with 16 points but still a decent round which filled me with confidence for our 36 hole comp at my home course on Sunday.

Nett 71 which i level par for the first round which wasn't bad considering i could hardly hit anything straight off the tee, then a nett 77 for the 2nd round.

Just no consistency in my game at the minute in comps, last 7 holes of my 2nd round went, birdie, birdie, par, quad bogey, par, triple bogey, triple bogey!

Stupid game!

First time out off my new 10 handicap, was 1 under handicap on the 17th tee, played a pathetic short approach to the green and bogeyed, but still had a good chance to make par on the par 5 last to get it back.
Two well struck shots, well I thought they were when I hit them, and I find I'm blocked out by a tree 100 yards short of the green that should have been cut down years ago, tried to fade one round it, didn't, but still only just off left fringe but ball now up against the rough, poor chip over green +3 for double bogey 7.

Oh well, I still buffered on one over handicap.

Last Thursday’s medal at Dunbar was the start, front nine in four over, back nine one over for 76 blows:). Sat medal, again Dunbar, two over for the front nine with a ball over the wall. On the back nine I played like a fool for a few holes, having to par the last 4 for 79 blows:(.

Played a scramble at Winterfield on Sunday. Not the longest course in the world but the wind was blowing and we played some awesome golf scoring 6 birdies and an eagle with no dropped shots for the win.

Yep, medal yesterday, turned a 75/76 into a 79. Doubled the last after snap hooking my tee shot oob. Doubled 10 and bogey'd 11 , both from the middle of the fairway aswell....still, got a little 0.2 cut so not all bad!!!

Yep.
18 holes after work on Friday evening, 18 holes on Saturday with a few mates and won the annual 9 hole Cross country on Sunday afternoon to win a bottle of win.
Great weekend with golf on the pooter in the evenings, couldn't be better!

Didn't play competative golf but played the Landsdowne course at Blairgowrie ,jesus its that tight on some holes you need to walk down the fairways in single file.

Scored 34 points in the roll up. Went out in 19 (+4 gross) so a little disappointed. Played at Caversham Heath in a club match yesterday and lost one down after being 4 up with 8 to go. Didn't play badly nor did my partner but they started making pars on shot holes and then holed a putt on 16 downhill and 30 feet away. Going like a bomb it dropped like a rat down a drainpipe. If it had missed it was off down the fairway. We mucked up 17 and I missed the green from 165 yards at the last when a par was would have done it. Made five but one of their guys holed from 6 feet to get the win

Didn't manage a game this weekend... between working, and running around moving stuff for my daughter I had neither the time nor the energy.

Plus all my regular playing partners are either away on holiday, or were otherwise indisposed themselves, and I couldn't be bothered playing by myself.

Well how many of you guys & Gals played competition golf this weekend.

I noticed Patrick had a good round and would have won his competition if he had only have signed his card, he did however still get a handicap reduction for his efforts.

What about the rest of you, how did you perform in competitions this weekend.

Where did you play and what did you shoot at the weekend? Something under par I'm assuming as your h/cap is now highlighted in red.

We all love good players MM so tell s something about yourself, home club, location, aspirations etc etc

I have been playing for the best part of 25 years and my lowest handicap was + 2.4 but the last few years have been a bit of a struggle TBH what with the weather we have had over the last few years and work commitments. I started this season of + 1.3 and have managed to play a few competitions/Opens which have all resulted with a few .1s here and there and a few cuts to go along with it. My goal is to get to + 3 and stay there for a while, I play the game because I enjoy it and have a bunch of mates who enjoy it as much as I do, practice is the key and picking the days to play when you know your in the grove. I don't play competitions every week but put a lot of time in at the practice area.

Played in The Prince's Open on Friday & after a shaky start in driving rain, managed to get to 30pts. Just love playing there, whatever the weather, the course, the staff, the history & tradition always make it special.
Also played in a club match at another Herts course on Saturday, won 3&1. I won't go into anymore detail as I think I covered it in another thread on Sunday ! ; - )

I ventured up to a very breezy Southerness. Despite racking up two doubles, a treble and a quad bogey, four birdies helped offset some of the damage and with CSS going up to 75 I came away with a .1 cut. Most welcome since the season has been one of good ball striking but an inibiliity to put a score together.

.1's and buffers are the scope of my game at the min......... I THINK im playing better than im scoring but its scores that get ya cut not ball striking ..

I could have wrote the same thing word for word. Im probably hitting the ball as well as I have in a while but I tend to follow a bad shot with another bad shot rather than a poor decsion.

It's coming but I fear the season will be out when it arrives.
