.............the England v Brazil game last night?

Now I'm not saying we're World beaters but certainly a few steps in the right direction.

Wilshere, Rooney and Walcott were the three stand out performers for me. Especially Wilshere, and was just great to watch him glide past players in midfield, something that hasn't been seen in England games since Paul Gascoine.

Any thoughts? :)

Yeah - if Cahill is the best we've got in defence we're stuffed.......

And I always thought you were the "glass is always half full type of guy".

I take your point though, but it was nice to know that they could only score from a defensive error!

I thought there were a lot of positives but we've had false dawns before, if we perform at the same level in the qualifiers then we can really say we are moving the right way.

I was surprised. I think Roy has got the right mixtureof young and experienced. I am no Stevie G. fan but I thought he was very good last night and the with the young lad from Arsenal in the middle it was ok. Not great but ok. I can't get carried away about England but they looked like a team. I don't think Spain will be worried though :-)

Thought Brazil rarely got out of 2nd gear. If they had played at a quicker tempo and with more fluidity in their passing England would have been chasing shadows. Shocking miss by Neymar, crap penalty and the match died an inevitable death when the mass substitutions ruined what flow there had been.

Players seem happier playing for Hodgson and there is some great young talent emerging. I hope Hodgson can find a line up and formation that works and perhaps we can eventually live up to the media hype

The fact is that Brazil did not play well at all, they're not the force they once were and can't live on past glories.

I'm certainly not getting carried away and don't listen to, or read media hype. England played well and won 2-1 and can only beat what's put in front of them.

So for me it's just good to watch England play well and to see young talent shining through.

Didn't watch one minute of it. I've become tired and bored of watching England and the false dawns, one good game doesn't make us world beaters. I gave up watching international friendlies a while back and didn't even know the result until this morning and wasn't that bothered England won.

I've got a split allegience internationally anyway as Dads English, mums Italian so I tend to flit between watching the 2 when its matches that actually mean something. I think I've seen more Italy games than England come to think of it.

But as for friendlies, i'm out i'll stick to the mighty Rovers and watch the Internationals at qualifier and tournament level only.

Sorry but I can't agree with that.

Brazil wanted to win just as much as England did.

Yip I would agree with that, professional pride kicks in. I think England have a very strong team and squad. Seem much more in harmony now under Hodgson.

The weakest Brazlillian team for years against an average England side (no offence, just opinion). Roy needs to stick with Wilshire, as he's obviously the future. Cahill will grow and grow. Stevie G & Lamps are on last legs now.

Baines will be a natural replacement for Cole. Be interesting to see if this fixture is repeated in WC, Brazil!

Bales on the other hand had a cracking win against Austria. Ok, they're no Brazil, but we're no England either! Coleman is still a clown and without Bale, Wales would be very very poor! Hopefully do the double of Scotland next month and try to finish as high as possible for ranking and seeding tiering for the euros!

Walcott has come on alot since his contract stand off and pushed up front! Has the rawness to be a top striker! Just needs to work on his finishing.

It's a friendly - it means nothing!

I've lost count of the friendlies that we've won and everyone starts jumping ahead of themselves. Then, when it matters, we struggle to beat the 'lesser' teams. We're still not guaranteed to qualify for the next World Cup, are we?

Until we start producing the goods in the big games England are still very much an under performing team.

I think this result will just build up expectation too much - just like the Rugby win over the All Blacks. 1 good game and everyone thinks they're the best thing ever. No denying that beating Brazil is nice but it needs to be done when it matters to make the result really worthwhile.

PS - football is still rubbish. Rugby is where it's at

What is the point of cleverly? Useless. And surely there must be another option than fat frank? He can't even nail down a contract?
