Hi everyone, been a while since I logged in or posted on here. Hope everyone I've played with in the past is well?

Just wondered if you are all experiencing the same as us, our club is seemingly mad keen for competitions. Tee-sheets jammed full, extended times, waiting lists? We had a comp open yesterday at 6am for 2 weeks time, I logged in at 8:30 and there were no slots at all, had to put myself on the waiting list. Compare and contrast to last year, where I would have been looking at a start sheet and thinking "Hmm, I'm sure more people used to enter these". Are you all seeing the same?

First one July 4th. Tee sheet full in the first hour not surprising as spaces are reduced due to longer gaps in start times and there is no starting on the 10th.

Can’t wait.

Our online booking opened Friday at 8pm. I was sat ready to go, aiming for an early start - within a few seconds they were all locked, ended up with 16.00. Hopefully it will calm down again soon

Could imagine a number of factors. Season compressed, people not going away, people off work, not being able to participate in other sports, etc.

No comps at my place and no real mention of it, unfortunately.

I know a few places in Scotland are managing competitions.

I guess they'd need to do away with the raised cups and perhaps come up with a solution re: bunkers. Maybe lift and place within 6 inches?

Course still mobbed even after moving to 3 ball. No weekend morning times unless you book within 30 mins of opening. People trying to make up for lost time. Comps will only increase the volume. I reckon it’ll take months to calm down.

That's what CONGU has mandated.
Bunkers: If clubs introduce a Local Rule to allow preferred lies in bunkers, scores will be acceptable for competition or supplementary score purposes. (Using Model Local Rule E-3)
Please note: The distance for preferred lies in the bunker is limited to 6 inches and the area cannot be smoothed before placing.
As an alternative (but not combined with the preferred lies detailed above) if the condition of bunkers is so poor that it interferes with the proper playing of the game, a club Committee may declare all bunkers to be Ground Under Repair, scores will be acceptable for competition or supplementary score purposes.

Good plan.

Actually quite enjoying not having to rake bunkers and can't really think I've had any shockers. But I'd guess would be more of a problem if they were filled up with sand.

1st SAturday comp is on jUly 11th. Rammed already. Not bothered. We have a comp on a Wednesday, play in if you feel like it. I'm gonna play in this, it's free and it's a qualifier so I'll collect my 0.1's this way.

Our place from today allows four balls. All booking by BRS with 10 minute slots.
I'm struggling with my game at the moment, so I don't miss competition golf with the added pressure.
Easy for me just to have a knock without worrying about score ?

We’ve just had our third weekend of Covid stablefords, all off the whites. They also started a midweek medal, running tues, weds and Thursda. Next weekend is medal weekend.
yes the tee time lists are booked up, but numbers entering the comps or playing is no more than normal when there is no tee booking.
