Hi i have booked myself onto a Callaway demo afternoon at our club - as i am after some new clubs.

Has anybody done a Callaway demo day as i am not sure what to expect? hopefully i maybe custom fitted and i can go away and look for the clubs online, instead of paying a little over the odds pro shop prices :o

A demo day is not the place to get custom fitted IMO. use it as a way to test out various clubs by all means but don't expect a proper fitting at a day like this. There's not enough time to do what's necessary IMO.

and then in a few years you will moan that you pro shop has gone and there are no more demo days

you'll get to try a variety of clubs and shafts, you are unlikely to have enough time for a full custom fit, but you get to try out what you like. If you are short of time personally Id narrow it down and go back for the full fit at a later date. try and buy through your pro - at least give him a chance to get close to online prices

I bought my Callaway Driver, 4 wood and hybrid when the Callaway tour truck visited AG in New Maldon last year (end May time). Had a hitting session with one of the pro's, tried a few different things, taped up the club etc and found my new driver and other 2 clubs. Great session, not a full fitting like I had with Cleveland but a great time nonetheless and as I bought them on the day there were a few discounts and freebies thrown in.

Clubs were made them posted about a week later.

Go for it, you'll have fun.

Did one myself and it was useless. The guy fitted me for standard lie 1inch longer rather than +2 degrees and 1/2in longer that I've been fitted for at TM, Cleveland, Titleist and a few retailers.
The driver they fitted me for couldn't carry as far as the one I was using yet they told me it was much superior. 2 holes that had ditches around the 200yd area I could not carry with the demo club from the pro shop the day after the official fitting.

I had a callaway demo day at my local driving range

I thought it was pretty good, spent about 45 minutes hitting Callaway's range of drivers, the guy was tweaking this and that, and giving me different shafts to try.

I only went went so i could see my stats on the flight scope launch monitor for free, but nearly went away buying a club.

There is no pressure to buy, but the callaway razr extreme did beat my current big stick

Been on plenty of demo days. Ideal for trying the latest models and there is usually a choice of regular and stiff shafts but not a huge range of different shaft options. Good way of trying before you buy but if you do decide to purchase give your pro a chance to at least price match.

Well thought I would do the best of two worlds, so went for to local driving range tonight to get a custom fitting done, then on Thursday would like to see what the Callaway man says.
From tonights fitting it was a standard length, steel shaft but 2deg UP .
Is 2deg up a lot? What are other peoples settings ?
