Guys booked in to go to the local Ping Demo day. Looking to invest in some new irons in the next 2 months after the wedding. Whats the normal drill for a demo day. I have a half hour slot booked. Are you preasured into buying the clubs? Havent had a swing with any of there clubs so was just keen to have a try.

Will they basicly fit me up for a set?

Last night at the range Titleist were doing a demo day had lots of clubs with them and Trackman.

Been to many over the years and there will be no pressure from the manufacturers to buy, cant comment if its at a range shop though with salespeople who have targets! pretty much though you will get to try any club you want that they have with them, probably different shafts as well, it will give you a flavour of what you like THEN you could arrange a full fitting later on as 30 mins is only enough time to have a feel at this stage. Enjoy it, its usually fun.

No pressure usually but as said above if it is at a range where there might be salespeople it could well be different. Anyway dont buy there and then arrange a full fitting if you decide Ping are for you, either go to Gainsborough or to a registered Ping fitting centre

I did a Titleist fitting the other day at my local range to check my stuff was still correct for me. The fitter used Trackman and suggested a new shaft in my driver but said that my Mizuno 3 wood was better on the stats than any of the 3 woods I tried and that my irons, that had been c/f by the pro there by eye were perfect.

Nett result 40 mins spent and £70 - not too bad

A lot of demo days will let you just pick a club you fancy and hit some balls. If you have a session booked they will put you on the monitor and try and find the best club and spec to suit. Whilst there are usually offers to be had for buying on the day I'd recommend taking the specs away with you and going for a full blown C/F session. The demo day won't usually take into account loft/lie etc and probably won't have a full range of shaft options available.

I'm off to a TM day in a few weeks to give the RBZ a bash. Also looking at some new wedges

If you can come back at the end, usually you will find a the local pro hitting a few balls etc. Always good to watch. Dont hang around if other people are around, pros are shy and will run away!

Sorry to hijack the thread (but you've got some good advice up there):
Also looking at some new wedges
What's wrong with the Z TP wedges, Homer? If you get some new ones, pm me with a price for the 52 deg, please? I may take it off your hands. :)

Nothing wrong with them but they are just showing their age and have a few dings in them now and fancied a look at something new. TM have something called an ATV wedge coming out which looks pig ugly but I was interested to try it in the flesh

As a current non member of a club, and someone who just plays municipals at the moment what is the best way to find out about demo days?
