Danny Boy - flash in the pan? Discuss

Agree he's not as focussed as he needs to be at that level, understandable given major win and fatherhood and hopefully he can reign in his twitter addicted brother who hasn't helped him.
Is there a particular weakness in his game at present like putting? Should pick up a big fat cheque for Race to Dubia so it's not all bad.
I think Willett has probably had his 'moment' like Immelman, Schwartzel and a good few other lone Masters/other Major winners over the years who didn't reach the same heights again. Hopefully he'll settle and refocus though. Whatever happend he won the Masters, don't agree Speith lost it, every year at Augusta players fade badly, it's such a precision course unless you're absolutely on it the course can chew you up. Speith made a bad mistake but everyone does over the 4 days, there's just more focus on mistakes back 9 on Sunday.

Flash in the pan, let's not forget he never won, speith lost it and he was there to pick up the pieces. Don't believe anything about all the media attention taking its toll that's all crap....

Utter tosh!

Spieth (it might help if you actually got his name right!) may have 'lost it', but Willett (you have the same 'problem' Fragger!) was presented with the Green Jacket, which means he won it!

There's certainly been more than 1 golfer who has lost focus somewhat after winning Major. He's not going to fade away imo, though it might be part way through the 2017 season, at least, before he gets his act together and plays with the style he showed up to and including The Masters!

After Bubba won the Masters in 2012 he didn't win again until 2014, and struggled for form all the rest of the 2012-2013 seasons. He said it took it out of him winning the Masters.
Perhaps Willett will struggle for a season or so, but we certainly did't call Bubba a one hit wonder/flash in the pan after his first Major, and he hadn't won often before the Masters victory.

Think we'll see a lot more of a fabulously talented and down to earth golfer. He's busy adjusting to breaking through to the big time and brilliant life changing family stuff - once he's settled and clear in his head with his new targets his class will shine through again.

I think Danny is more of a Paul Lawrie than a Bubba Watson

He isn't the first golfer to experience a bit of a lull after a major win, as previously stated in the thread all his goals probably changed mid season his expectations and the way he was treated would have changed too which is possibly hard to come to terms with, as to whether he was lucky to win I don't see that he was, he was lucky that he was able to play the first 15 in relative calm but the pressure on the final 3 must have been immense.

The other point I guess is he was hardly prolific before the Masters.
