G'aah!

Just back from the ladies open at Dalmahoy and all I can say is it's just as well the sun was shining or I would have stormed off in a right strop.

4 hours 50 mins for a round of golf, waiting for every shot, is not my idea of fun. OK it's a long course but that's just ridiculous.

Managed to come in on handicap.... cursing a few stupid shots (and a 4 putt :eek:) that cost me dearly, though. CSS was up from SSS when I left so if I'm lucky I might manage a wee cut to get some breathing space under 9.

We were definitely looking at 5 hours plus but got let through on the 17th...... Still had to wait on 18 for the next group ahead!

Is that the massive par 5? I remember waiting a good 5 minutes on every shot on that hole. It's the only time I've ever played golf and wished I was somewhere else. Mind youand it didn't help that one of my playing partners was a tool.

I just don't understand what is going on these days. I play a lot of opens and 4hr30 is almost becoming the norm for a 3ball. Most 36 hole events you have 5hrs between morning and afternoon teetimes and that used to be plenty to get round, grab some lunch and freshen up before going back out again. I played one last week where I barely had time for a shower before running back onto the tee.

It really is becoming a problem and organisers have to start doing something about it.

oh no - I went out at 10.20 and scooted round! We were in just under 4 hours - the group in front of us were slow - but they let us thro at 13th and we zoomed round! Get an early tee time next year!

CSS is in at 77 and i missed my buffer by 1 stroke - argh - would rather have missed it by 10 strokes ;(

loved the course tho! ;)

Closest was about 4-6 inches when we went past, didn't read the name though.

Any chance you could post the results or pm them to me - I can't access howdidido? Cheers!
I'll pm it to you
well done on ur birdie on the 9th - that was my fave hole even tho i racked up a snowman ;)

I wasn't happy with that hole!

Blind tee shot so the drive I thought was great ended up running right on the sloping fairway which stopped me going for the green with my second. Laid up before the wall, hit a great third right at the pin but underclubbed then rolled in a long putt to make up for it.

lol - luckily i was playing with two members who kept me right all the way round! Unfortunately there was nothing they could do for me after i'd duck hooked my drive and scrambled for the snow man on that hole!

Thought the rough was very hard going - luckily i have a steep swing so it doesnt bother me - but some of the ladies were really struggling to get out of it

i'm happy with my game today tho - great drives (cept 9th) and fab 3 woods - it sure cut down on the distance. shame i had no short game.

hey ho - a 0.1 doesnt hurt!

think you will prob get 2nd handicap prize!!! woo!!

Yes - I had one in the first cut that sat down so much my only option was to hack it out to the fairway. The ladies in front of me must have been knackered looking at all the trouble they were having.

:whoo:Lets hope. That'll be me on a roll after winning Royal Musselburgh a couple of weeks ago!
