Daily Mail!

austraia is the perfect model for how it works now, not how it came to be.
Australia has no population problems due to these measure. If there was no initial immigration then Australia would be just another part of the world we'd be feeding with comic relief money. As the indigenous people would still have populated the country but without our technology would face the same problems many African countries do.

Pas for the Op. As many have said, I have no problem with people coming here to work. It's those that come here to sponge I object too, but then that can be said for plenty of estates up and down the country that sign on week in week out, whilst making no attempt to get a job!

Yes Australia is perfect if you are of white European origin. Otherwise........................

as I said, the way it happened may have been wrong. But it works now. It's ok for everyone to sit on the moral high ground slating how Australia came to be, but in the past all western civilisation was formed on it. The pyramids are one of the wonders of the world. Do you think they're we created whilst workers had fair breaks and pay??

I'd much rather be in a country that had the balls to say no to unhelpful immigration than this.

Our country doesn't have the balls for anything, it is on it's way to ruin I feel sorry for our children. I do not want any more immigrants in this ountry full stop,I do not care if they are brain surgeons or cabbage pickers.

Perhaps you might like to seek out and watch John Pilger's film Utopia....
Found the synopsis, looks a good watch. But it's got nothing to do with their race, it appears to be business driven. They'd be treating anybody on the land the same. So their colour is irrelevant.

Compulsory land purchase for hs2 is gonna cause problems in this country too, but it's for a better long term.
Racism happens the world over. And it goes both ways.

Even if that immigrant brain surgeon can save yours or someone else's life ?

Not a question of moral high ground. Australia views itself as a developed, democratic society and yet continues to treat its indigenous population (and others) in a way that similarly"civilised" countries ceased long ago.

It is often described as "the lucky country" but I guess that an Aborigine might question his luck.

Yes, let them save a life in their own country, that is why they trained there not to come here and earn three times as much.

They trained to become a skilled worker and then once trained has the same opportunities as everyone else

Shouldn't everyone be able earn high wages ? As long as they are earning and not just claiming then I can't see a problem

That is a fair point, but also, their home country presumably gave them an education at cost so surely they should be willing to repay that. Add to that, different countries have different training standards.

The problem is they're taking jobs from Brits.

There are different standards hence why I hope that if doctors come here ( or anyone ) then they will be interviewed and credentials tested.

But as has been said, they're willing to do it cheaper. In the case of a brain surgeon as that was mentioned earlier, I'm sure it costs a lot more to train in the uk than elsewhere.

Thought the problem was they were coming here for the higher wages ?

What does cost of training have anything to go with it ?

Higher wages than they'd get in their own country.

if it cost me 100k to learn a skill, I'd expect a certain wage.
If my competitor got trained for 30k they could ask for considerably less and therefor the English surgeon either accepts a job on a lot less or is stuck with a skill set but no job.

Well that could happen regardless if they are an immigrant or not
