Hello all happy new year!

I am looking at buying a SLDR off ebay, from Clubs4Cash in USA. I works out about £108 shipped.

Is there a way to work out the likely import/VAT charges that would needed to be added?

Add 20% VAT, 2.25% Import Duty on entire price (including Freight) and £13.50 (I think) Parcelfarce Handling fee!

So about £145!

AG at trafford centre had some at £129 and R1 @ £70 last weekend. Some USA website now take payment at checkout to save parcel force admin fee. but work on quick guide approx 1/3 of total including shipping!

I bought a driver 18 months ago from 'in-the-hole golf' stateside and was charged £35 via customs against a £115 purchase cost.

Club was £200 brand new here at the time.

Ask the sender to put on the declaration "SAMPLES ONLY. NO COMMERCIAL VALUE"

And prey it doesn't get damaged as you will have no right to claim against a sample

A close friend imported around £1500 worth of motorcycle parts about 10 year ago, the UPS lorry went up in flames along with his order. As the declared value was less than £150 to avoid import charges he lost out on £1300+ ......

The idiots at Parcelforce may be slow and prone to bouts of mistaking one currency for another, but they are able to recognise a golf club shaped box, especially one that has Clubs4Cash written on it.

You will have to pay the 20% VAT on goods and shipping as well as the 13.50 handling fee. For this, you will get 1-2 weeks delay between the club entering the UK and the numpties processing it.

I no longer buy stuff which is shipped USPS, hence goes to Parcelforce. I only buy if the seller can ship UPS or another courier service. Often it is no more expensive, and it is always always much much faster and efficient.
