Hi again all,
Well my last post was asking you chaps and chapesses about being custom fit at Mizuno, Wrexham and your comments were massivley helpful as always. on a few of the comments that were left, some of you said forget c/f on the irons but it is a must to get the driver fitted. What i would like to know is, how do you go about this? where do you go for a driver fitting? Do i need to get a whole new driver or would it be possible to just buy a new shaft as i am more than happy with my driver head?

Don't forget it on the irons. Go get fitted for the driver and irons.

The driver head and shaft need to work together, so you may get recommendations from people whose swing is not at all like yours and for shafts that play differently in other heads.

For example, the 907D2 is a highish spin head. The 907D4 is a Tour only proto which plays differently to the D2, with less spin.

There are some specialist fitters who will advise on drivers. Where are you located?

Hi Ethan, Im in Halifax. i have been in touch with the guy who has this website: www.pureforged.co.uk/limited-editions-10-c.asp he is a really helpful guy but i am reluctant to spend shed loads on a new shaft unless im pretty sure that it will suit me. plus the fact, im told that my driver isnt the easiest of clubs to reshaft because of the metal band on the Hosel.

Apart from the manufacturers (TM, Mizzy, Ping, Titleist, Callaway), I only know a couple of fitters down near London.

Precision Golf in Egham (near Heathrow) are very good, and Jason at Golf Principles in Basingstoke has a great reputation.

Urban Golf in Soho and the City also do fitting. I don't know anyone who has been to them.

None really near Halifax, sadly.

Never mind, i will just have to go for it and see. the guy at pure forged reccomened a roddio shaft. i may give one of them a try. thanks for your help ethan anyway, really good of you. hopefully be at Mizuno Wrexham at the end of this month to see about some irons too :)

I'm shocked the majority said don't get custom fit irons!!

I'm a non lanky, stocky 6'2" bloke and had to get an inch added to my clubs from the standard length. While in there, amongst other things, they also checked which part of the sole hit the ground so they could adjust the clubs lie on the ground as well. Any sort of tailoring of your clubs is only going to optimise your game.

The only thing I'd suggest if your new to the game is get a few lessons first to get your basics right and then get custom fitted.

has anyone tried the custom fit facilities at the belfry? My family have offered to send me there to get a driver fitted for Xmas as it is only down the road from work for me and I wondered what the experince and level of service was like
