Custom fitted clubs? Which ones and where to buy?

Would you get fitted for a new custom made suit, then go on a diet?

Exactly the reason I'm not going c/f until I'm down to 12. At 15 with up and down games I don't class my current swing a ingrained. If my swing isn't consistent why have clubs fitted to only 50% of my game

Cos they would be right for you 50% of the time which would be better than 0% of the time.

Also whats to say ha as a 12 handicap your swing would be consistent. Why not wait til your down to single figures?

The original question was what to buy and where.
I advised him to buy {part ex} from the pro shop and as his swing speed is slow to average, he should look at regular shafts.
This will help him develop his game as he wanted.
I think at this stage, keeping the choice simple would be best
But if you want to advise the OP about different weight shafts, kickpoints, launch angles, pureing, and all the rest, feel free.

Rick, with respect on a bad day I can still hack around to within 1/2 strokes of my hc, this season even in bad medal rounds I would still drag in 34/33 points.

The new pro I'm having lessons with is changing so much at the mOment that I feel I don't have a consistent swing, even though dispersion us getting alot better power is very much limited through lack of faith and feel in the new swing, once I am confident in my new swing changes and I see a performance chance consistency wise, then I will get fitted. At the moment the pro has commented I could do with slightly stiffer shafts but not an urgent requirement.

Why are you looking for a C/F. If you are still relatively new to the game and going through swing changes as you progress or have lessons, the fitting you get now may not correspond to the swing you have later. For example you might have a flat swin now and be fitted for arguments sake a degree upright. If you or your pro change to a more upright swing then that could be wrong.

My advice would be to think about what you want the C/F for. Speak to your pro who'll know your game and see what he recommends and give him the option to fit and supply you.

From personal experience I would avoid American Golf for fitting like the plague and would suggest a club pro or a recognised manufacturer like the Mizuno Centre

I didn't see him say his swing was slow to average or he was new to the game, but even so, a CF session at Mizuno would not involved discussion of pureing, kick points etc. The discussion about launch angle is normally translated into 'you get the best flight out of this one'.

It may involve him hitting some clubs until he finds some he lies and the fitter advising that one of those, with a certain shaft, would be best. Could be a senior flex or regular, steel or graphite.

You could go to the Mizuno National Fitting Centre in Cumbernauld. Fitting is free, no obligationto buy, and you would have a spec sheet for what suits you.
I don't think the National fitting Centre is in Cumbernauld any more, I think it is at the World of Golf Range in Glasgow. If you can make it their they have plenty of different makes on show so a fitting would be more varied than just one make.

I'm also looking for new irons. I've noticed that if you get fitted for clubs a lot of places will charge you say £25-50 but will then knock it off the price of the clubs, so wouldn't matter anyway. So why not get custom fitted for height/hands and swing speed etc as those are unlikely to change as you hone your swing or am I barking up the wrong tree?
