Crap Start/Good finish

Well that was a weird round. Monthly medal today and our first 2 holes are par 3 and par 4. Ended up shooting a 5 and a 9!! Mind was completely gone and I didnt want to be there after only 2 holes. Thought at least I can have some practice and perhaps play some shots I wouldnt normally try, but I want to be able to do.

Next 4 holes, all pars. By the 8th I was 1 under handicap! Finished the 18th, our only par 5 with a tap in par for a round of 85, 3 under handicap. 8 pars in total, which really pleased me. Could see my 2nd cut in a week.. Strange round indeed.

At least with a good finish you come off feeling better than you would if it was the other way around.

Next time it will be all good

It happens. I rode my luck today especially on the front nine. Bounced off a tree away from the hazard, hit the pin when a chip was too hard and it stopped dead. Made three or four long putts and out in level par gross. Got squeaky bum on the back nine and still rode my luck in places. Finished eight over gross (+4 in the bogey comp) and so can't complain

I think a bad start just clears your head of expectations
