Cracking weekend ahead!

Yip, top weekend, great craic. I didnt mind bentham. Some great views and a few nice holes. Silloth was a joy as always, the golf at times was sublime, but a few dodgy holes by each of the dream team stopped us getting over thd line against the "Lincoln 3 pinters".

Cheers to LQ and Birchy for arranging

Oh and industrial estates in Carlisle make for good walks at 4:30am, apparently :D
I cant believe the idiot Dan told you, more ammunition to the pile.

Good weekend with decentish weather as well.

The views around Bentham are lovely, shame it was a bit wet so we had to use the buggy paths and not the fairways and the buggy paths are miles from where I hit my ball, taking 4 clubs with you to find you need another one is

However the highlight of my weekend was our 2 man team beating the North West dream team by a landslide.

Best 3 from 4 is a comp that I haven't played in before but by hell it makes it hard work at Silloth, the 111 points we had Trev though we would be in with a real shout at been in the prizes, to find the group in front of us (Silloth Captain and president) had 125 points was sole destroying, 7 points a hole average for the round is some going.

Having played Silloth a fair few times I was really looking forward to playing this in the summer for once, the greens are in good condition but the fairways were clearly suffering from the great British weather, not the usual standard, its still one of my favourite courses though and at £22.50 each for a team open comp its pure giveaway golf.

You did well to finish under par given the wind that picked up half way through the round. We defo left about 6 points each out there due to some errant shots and shoddy putting (by me mostly).

I was thinking about the course last night. It really is one of the most interesting I've played. I don't think I've played a course where you can so easily play a hole superbly and bogey it, yet, you can chomp your way up a hole and scramble your par. I don't even mind the dogleg left hole (10th is it?) that most people tend to say is poor.

Hope you fellas got home OK....traffic was a bit of a mare around Lancaster for us.

Interesting point about the fairways, very wet winter as usual up here and then a very dry spell from late May through June when the fairways were baked. Growth was fairy non existant until July since when its been fairy wet again and the course has greened up.

Certainly through June it was as dry as I have seen it early in the season and downwind the ball was running miles, very easy to hit it too far on certain holes.

Haven't played there for about a month but should get out again the next 2 weekends so looking forward to playing some bad golf!

What a great weekend away, had a cracking laugh mainly at the usual suspect who never fails to entertain without actually trying that hard.

It's amazing the damage 4 pints can do to someone. Wandering the streets at 4am looking for the answer and barfing up a perfectly good curry is very strange behaviour even by his standards. I'm just disappointed that Dan didn't get any photographic evidence to share with the forum

Bentham on the Saturday was an interesting start to the weekend. Lovely wide fairway with a driving area alongside, surely nobody could miss that? It's a good job the opening tee shot of the weekend went high or the French woman practicing in flares on the range might have been walking round picking up her teeth instead of golf balls :D

I thought the course itself was crap if I'm being honest. Poor layout with the opportunity to smash it all over the place and still be in play plus the cart path saga was frustrating. The wedding with the kids running all over the 18th green was icing on the cake :D. I think most people shot over 30 points easily but Dan the man from Woodhall spa took the money with 36 points

Moving on to Silloth on the Sunday for the team open. 3 from 4 was an interesting format! I like it though, does keep things interesting. Course wasn't in as good nick as usual but you can't fault the layout, right up there with the best of them. We started off pretty steady despite me being stitched up on the first tee by Captainron with the starter :D. Overall though we were pretty streaky and didn't really get anything going, a bit like England at a major tournament. We were well fancied to go all the way but limped along like a cat that had been run over.

Had we counted the alcohol units from the night before and added them to the score we would have walked it but the Lincoln 4 pinters won easily, shame for them they bailed out on proper bet and reduced it to a fiver :D

Had a great weekend on the whole and its the company that makes it. Nice one gents, roll on the next one!

Imagine the state steptoe wouldve been in if he'd had a proper session

I doff my cap though, at least he had a go.

The only thing on fire in our fourball was someone's arse :D

Great weekend, Bentham was extremely wet with the worst buggy paths, ever but taking yet another ten spot off Beglynda always makes for a good days golf.

Cracking curry. Good choice Quacker.

Silloth, well, we 'thought' we may get away with a normal gentle breeze but alas, it was true Silloth gentle breeze so some usual tough holes out, and some hilarious ones coming back. Some serious distances hit by Jocko and Captain Ron.

It was best 3 from 4 we found out when we got there, 125 was winning when we got in....by the first group out at 7:20am.

The fillet steak burger was sublime.

Haha.... down & out in Carlisle... just how low can you get

I thought 4 pints was a proper session. I know for you it's a tasting menu.
