Well what a quality weekend with Chefiio, Odvan and Lord Birchy.

As above Lord Birchy of Davyhulme only went and won our 36 hole major comp.

Tough scoring conditions led to 2 rounds of net 73 been enough to tied 1st place with a scratch golfer.

Now we don't do countback for the Alverstone trophy, its a sudden death play off :D

So a quick putt for Birchy and head back to the 1st tee, now I don't know if Birchy has played in front of a crowd off 30-40 before but he handled it very well, the scratch golfer hit a cracker down the fairway and Birchy hit a sweet driver down the fairway as well so onto the next shot, scratch golfer back of the green about 20ft away, birchy then hit way left in the garbage, Birchy then knocked it through the green and into the middle of the bunker, next shot a quality bunker shot to 3ft ish, scratch golfer then only went and 3 stabbed giving Birchy a chance to stay in the match, he calmly bagged it so hole halved in 5.

2nd Hole and Birchy gets a shot, Scratch golfer hits his driver roughly 320 yards we reckon and Birchy under pressure hits a decent enough drive up the middle of the fairway, nice mid iron approach shot left side of the green about 35-40ft away, scratch golfer also hits the green slightly closer but he had a gap wedge he should have been closer, Birchy then putts up to 4ft and scratch golfer has a birdie putt to put some serious pressure on, he misses by an inch leaving Birchy with a 4ft for the match.

He holes it

So Lord Birchy of Davyhulme is our Alverstone Trophy 2016 winner

Have you got any members that might want to 'invite' me to this next year? been desperate to play in it for a while now ;)

Well done Birchy, always nice when the good guys do well!

You always had bandit status, guess this just reinforces it ;)

Well done birchy although don't know why they presented you with a budgie coffin.
you would of been better off with a £25 voucher for the club shop. :whoo:

I'm more worried about the trophy, looks like it's made of silver. Must be worth a few bob and you know what these scousers are like.

Hope it's insured

Pack in - Birchy's a wool from Bolton - look at the picture closely, he has 12 fingers on it.;)

Thanks very much Birchy, it's all me,me,me with you. As soon as the ink is dry on our "Race to dubai" pairs application, you go and get a big cut!!!!

Seriously, well played mate. Always good winning a big un, especially with sudden death.

Were Odvan and LQ supportive, in the extra holes.........or winding you up?:)

Birchys from Lancashire, good stock us folk are from up there. Dint Fred Dibnah have a bike. Always remember winning captains day. Felt a right tool avin to make a speech. what wad Birchys speech like.
That silver budgie coffin is safe now he had £150 burning an hole in his back pocket.
